While most fans were probably always cheering for Jess and Nick, others may have been unconvinced. There are many reasons to love this seemingly different duo, but there are also things in favor of Nick's relationship with Reagan. So, it's time to settle it! Here are five reasons why Nick should have ended up with Reagan, and five why it was always Jess.

Reagan: She's Carefree

Arguably, Nick and Jess' biggest problem was that Jessica wanted him to act more adult. From having no bank account to not worrying about laundry, Jess is very particular.

On the other hand, Reagan didn't exactly care about any of those things. She lived life mostly out of a suitcase and had a free spirit just like Nick. For this reason, they were able to bond and keep the peace.

Jess: She Challenges Nick

Reagan never challenged Nick to be anything besides who he already was. While Jess accepted Nick for all his quirks, she also made him the best he could ever be.

She made him realize that he could do anything he wanted, and she's a large part of the reason that he owns the bar and wrote his novel. Without Jess, he probably wouldn't have reached his potential.

Reagan: She's Sarcastic & Witty

Jess is hilarious, but certainly in her own quirky way. On the other hand, Reagan is practically the queen of snide comments and one-liners that are enough to break your soul.

However, both Nick and Reagan are definitely well-versed in this language. Together, there was also humor flying around, and being around these two was hardly ever a dull moment. Their bluntness was matched.

Jess: She's Selfless & Kind

There might just not be a person out there that is as good-hearted as Jessica Day. She's totally selfless and would do just about anything to make everyone around her happy. Because of this, she ended up getting in some sticky situations between Reagan and Nick.

Honestly, this just proves how caring she is. She always had Nick's happiness at heart, and she would never falter. Nick needed this kind of compassion in his life,  and Jess was the one to give it to him.

Reagan: She's Spontaneous

Nick is kind of known for being a couch potato and playing life pretty safe. However, he's not much of a planner, so he's pretty willing to do anything if he's asked to do so.

Reagan was never tied down, and she was always ready for a new adventure. Of course, one of these may have led to her being abandoned on a train, but, it was the thought that counts. Nick needed a bit of fire and adventure.

Jess: She's Organized & Ambitious

Reagan is also reaching for the stars, but Jess always has a game plan for how to become bigger and better. She doesn't care about materialistic things, but she does care about bettering her life and herself.

This "life plan" ideology is definitely something that Nick can learn from. With Reagan, he lived life the same old way he always did. It was Jess that encouraged him to publish his book and have ambition in life.

Reagan: She's Independent

Nick and Jess may have butted heads because Jessica can be a bit overbearing. For Reagan, the two of them lived their own independent lives and came together for a fun and relaxing time.

Sure, this ended poorly, and Reagan ended up keeping some pretty big secrets, but these two characters were fiercely independent, and it worked out well for a while. Nick didn't want to be controlled and tied down, and Reagan never tried to do so.

Jess: They're Best Friends

It was pretty clear that Reagan pretty much wanted to just hang out and have a basic relationship. On the other hand, Jess and Nick knew everything about each other. They understand each other as only two best friends would.

This tight relationship was exactly what allows them to be close together in a romantic way. Only Jess will understand Nick, and Nick can understand Jess in the way that he does. This friendship is as pure as it gets and proves they were meant to be.

Reagan: She's Fiery & Confident

Nick has always, although maybe secretly, struggled with being insecure in relationships. Reagan never pressured him in any way during their relationship, and her confidence allowed him to live his life in the way she chose.

Her fiery attitude was definitely different for Nick, and it worked out pretty well, considering he felt totally calm during the majority of their relationship. She was the reason he made such a big change in the romance category.

Jess: They Bring Out The Best In Each Other

For those who weren't convinced about Nick and Jess, it's likely because these two seem way too different to last as a couple. However, it's actually because of their differences that they are so powerful.

Jess needed a more relaxed and adventurous lifestyle, and Nick needed to learn how to love and be loved. Together, they fill all their gaps and changed to bring out everything that each of them has to offer.
