New Girl had fans laughing hysterically for seven seasons when it originally aired from 2011 to 2018 and continues to get Netflix viewers laughing who stream it today on the streaming service.
Every season of the series was full of hilarious one-liners, inside jokes, and ridiculous storylines centered around the main as well as supporting and recurring characters. And usually, when a sitcom is that funny, fans start creating memes around it.

Friends In Quarantine
This meme centers around the COVID-19 pandemic and the feeling everyone has being quarantined in their homes, unable to (or recommended not to) leave but for essential purposes, like groceries.
Imagine if Winston was quarantined alone? He would probably not handle it well. But thankfully he'd have his best friend, his cat Furguson to keep him company. And seeing that Winston treated Furguson like a human and talked to him like one even pre-pandemic, having inside jokes with the furry animal would be totally in the realm of possibility.
Keep Calm & Moonwalk
One of Nick's many weird quirks was that when he found himself in an uncomfortable situation, he would awkwardly and in a not so subtle way, simple moonwalk away. Not walk, but specifically moonwalk. Don’t want to answer a question? Being confronted or put on the spot? Got caught in a lie? There's no need to come up with an excuse. Just shimmy your way out of the room.
If the person was to take Nick's advice and keep calm while doing this, they would turn around, slide their feet backwards and hunch their shoulders up like the famous pop star, and glide to another room, closing the door behind as if you can't see them.
Friendship
Remember that one episode when, in an effort to try and take his mind off CeCe, Schmidt became focused on getting himself an aquarium? But any old fish wouldn't do – he wanted a Lionfish.
Being the good friend that he was, Winston told Schmidt he would support him in whatever he needed. And thus, the two went out in wetsuits attempting to find Schmidt his perfect fish. The situation was so ridiculous. But a true friend, as the meme suggestions, will follow you through the flames, no matter how dumb your methods.
Forgot Women, It's All About Tomatoes
Nick and his love life, or lack thereof, was a central plot in New Girl. Really, it was about all of the friends' and their love lives. And even though it was obvious that Nick and Jessica were meant to be, they went through their periods of dating other people.
At one point, Nick got so fed up with it all that he decided to tend to a garden on the rooftop of the apartment building instead of date. Forget women. Tomatoes are red, juicy, and delicious. What's not to love? Who needs a woman anyway?
Schmidt's Creek
A hilarious parody of the popular Canadian series Schitt's Creek, this one takes the title card and replaces each character's face with Schmidt's.
Indeed, Schmidt shares some similarities with each of the main characters of Schitt's Creek, including the successful businessman Johnny Rose, his glamorous wife Moira who lavishes in the finer things in life, the spoiled and entitled daughter Alexis, and the over-the-top yet kind-hearted David. In some ways, every character has a little bit of Schmidt.
Rubbing Vs. Drinking Alcohol
Leave it to Nick to make a statement like this one that describes rubbing alcohol as being for "outside wounds" and drinking alcohol as being for "inside wounds." One of the defining characteristics of Nick was that he was not really in touch with his own emotions, though he did have the best character arc of everyone on the show.
Nick was holding on to a lot of repressed anger about his father and childhood along with a broken heart from a failed long-term relationship and his lack of motivation to follow through with getting a law degree. So, he often drowned his sorrows in either drinking beer or talking to patrons who were drinking in the bar that he tended.
The Kiss
It took so many episodes – too many episodes – to finally get to that kiss between Nick and Jessica. So, when it finally happened, it was like sweet relief for viewers who were so anxious for it to happen.
The meme perfectly shows how fans felt once the two finally locked lips and declared their obvious love for one another. A collective sigh of relief was likely heard across the nation as the story of the romance between Nick and Jess could finally begin and their relationship be taken the next level.
Pull Over
Schmidt was the more refined of the group of friends, the one who technically owned and took care of the apartment, including most of the bills as well as cooking and cleaning. He was also an impeccable dresser who had a particular love for cardigans of all kinds, something Nick loved to make fun of him for.
So, the joke perfectly fits with not only Schmidt's sense of style and priorities but also his personality and penchant for plenty of hilarious quotes. If a cop pulled Schmidt over, he very likely would reply in this fashion, correcting the officer that he wasn't wearing a pullover, referencing the type of clothing, but rather, a fashionable cardigan.
Asking About Love Life
Jessica Day and her dating relationship was a focal point of the show. She dated a lot of guys but there was always something wrong. And sometimes, even when it was right, the guy often recognized that there was more between between she and Nick, even if Jess didn't see it, and decided to step back.
Any single person knows the feeling when family get-togethers always end up with people asking about your love life. Jess was the type of person who would say something so sad and depressing but follow it up with a cheerful smile and statement in the happiest of tones.
Customer Service
Anyone who has worked customer service can relate to this meme. No matter how Jessica was feeling, she always seemed to have a smile on her face, or at least an upbeat personality or desire to deliver witty and humorous lines. Nick, on the other hand, was constantly angry or annoyed, and was easily frustrated.
The image on the left of Jess perfectly shows how a rep might sound when talking to a customer who doesn't get it. And the image of Nick on the right, where he's showing what fans call his "turtle face," is what the rep's face might actually look like behind the helpful tone of their voice.
