One of the most beautiful aspects of New Girl is the group's immensely close friendships. They experience plenty of conflict but continue to move past their rough times and build even stronger bonds in the entire process. It actually helps the audience resonate with them all more, too, as this is something that many people experience in real life.

There are a handful of big moments that truly help this group to become completely solidified, though. A good chunk of them occur in the opening season naturally, as this is where they begin to get to know each other and connect. However, it also does a great job of continuing to build their relationships as the show goes on as well.

When Jess first moves in, she is understandably heartbroken over Spencer cheating on her. However, after some persuasion from the guys, she decides to go on her first date since then. It is good in theory, but this changes rapidly when her date stands her up.

While this occurs, the guys are about to go to a party. However, once Nick sees the guy Jess is supposed to be with, he makes them go to the restaurant. From there, Nick starts singing "The Time of My Life" to cheer her up and the Coach and Schmidt join in. This is where the friendship between them all truly begins.

After Jess accidentally breaks the television hitting it with a basketball, the guys tell her she needs to replace it. This leads to her saying she has one at Spencer's but is too scared to see him. However, the guys convince her to go, as it turns out she has other belongings there, too.

She is initially warm to Spencer when seeing him and even gives him a hug. Yet, it changes quickly when she notices that he doesn't water her plant. She barges into the house and takes all her stuff. When a confrontation arises after this, the guys stand up for her and Schmidt even slaps him in the face.

After Jess hurts Nick's back tackling him during football, she gets him a free appointment at her friend Sadie's practice. Yet, after drinking water, Sadie notices that Nick has a lump and sets up an appointment for it.

The group worries that he has cancer and are understandably emotional because of it. They spend the night together at the bar and then the beach, where Nick ends up having a breakdown. Yet, everything turns out to be okay, thankfully, and the group even pays his hospital bill. It is just an incredibly wholesome moment.

Schmidt wants his 29th birthday to be off the hook, so Jess kindly decorates a party bus for him from a school one. Schmidt seems to be appreciative of it as time goes on, but the whole time, he is also self-conscious because of his friend, Benjamin.

Benjamin continuously makes fun of Schmidt and even tries to flirt with Jess. This leads to the group confronting him and Nick's girlfriend at the time, Julia, even hits him. However, the real beauty of this scene is that Schmidt recognizes his true friends at the end of it.

At this point of the series, Jess is starting her new relationship with the ever-so-fancy Russell. In an attempt to spice things up in the loft during his visit, she tells the guys that they should play True American.

This is where the legendary game is introduced and it becomes a huge part of their friendship. It is clear that they are having a ball, even if it takes time for Russell to understand the rules. This tradition even carries over to the future, as the finale shows them all playing the game with their children.

When Nick hears the news that his father suddenly passes away, he is understandably taken aback. Thankfully, though, he is a wonderful support system with the group, as they accompany him to the funeral.

While Nick is stressing over planning everything for it, they all work hard to show support for him. This is especially the case with Jess, as she even ends up providing the Elvis entertainment portion of it when Nick fails to do so because he drinks before it.

It is truly a highlight when the group goes to Prince's house for a party. Although Cece and Jess are the only ones actually invited, the rest sneak in. From there, a lot of fantastic moments occur.

The reason why the guys tag along is that Jess gives finger guns to Nick after he says he loves her. Thankfully, though, she gets the courage to tell him that her feelings are mutual. However, an underrated aspect of it is that Schmidt and Cece make amends after their rocky breakup. Also, Schmidt realizes that he has the right friend group, too, after he tries to impress the party-goers and fails.
