When it comes to strong casts in television, it is challenging to find one that fits that description better than New Girl. Whether it be the primary cast or even just side characters, it is clear that this show did a marvelous job every single time. That was what would allow this series to be an immense success, which is even still the case at this juncture of time.

However, even though praise is warranted for their character selection, it was apparent that many of them were taken off the show far too quickly. This happens with many television shows, but that does not lessen the blow. So many characters could have provided so much more substance to the series, especially when seeing how a lot of them were simply magnificent in their limited roles.

Coach

Coach New Girl

Due to a prior commitment, Damon Wayans Jr. had to leave New Girl after the pilot. It would have been marvelous to see Coach's character throughout the beginning seasons. Even though he returned, it was hard for his character to mesh with the group after so many seasons away.

That is not to say that Coach was a bad character at all. In fact, he did have a lot of shining moments. Yet, with the group already established over the first few seasons, he never seemed to have a true part in it again. Thus, his second removal from the show was inevitable.

Sadie

Sadie was a character that was never utilized correctly. She could have been such a stellar part of the group, as she always provided laughs for the audience. However, with her role being limited to only eight episodes in total, there certainly was a lot of disappointment.

There is no question that she could have been seen in far more episodes. One could even argue that she warranted a spot among the main cast, as her friendship with Jess seemed to be very strong. However, it would just not come to fruition.

Caroline

Caroline

Although Caroline was a massive detriment in Nick's life, it is a shame that viewers did not see more of her. There certainly was a lot of potential to bring her back in later seasons, as her character was funny and quite eccentric.

Sure, she was far from a fan favorite, but a larger story for her could have been very intriguing. Even if she kept her role as a major antagonist in Nick and Jess' lives, it would have been cool to have had more moments with her.

Genzlinger

Paul Genzlinger

It was amazing to see Paul Genzlinger come back in a later episode, but it was just not enough. He was absolutely meant to have a larger role in this series, rather than just being another ex of Jess.

Although he was quite similar to Jess in terms of personality, it very well could have worked keeping him on the series as a side character. He was nothing short of hysterical in all of his appearances, as well as very quirky.

Benjamin

Benjamin

As Schmidt's worst enemy, it would have been amazing to see Benjamin far more often. He was the perfect example of a character who the audience was meant to hate, which definitely helped his overall value to the series.

Seeing even just a few more conflicts between him and Schmidt would have sufficed, as they were always spectacular to watch. This character just did not get enough time on screen, as he was massively underrated.

Julia

Julia New Girl

Although fans were ecstatic to see Nick and Jess end up together, Julia was still a great partner for him too. Her time on the series was just a bit too short, as their relationship barely had any time to blossom.

Julia was fun to watch because of the fact that she was the complete opposite of Jess. However, even with this being the case, Julia still had some stellar comedic moments. She could have even been a great long term partner for Nick in another universe.

Nadia

Nadia

Nadia would make limited appearances as the series progressed, but she could have been used so much more. She was among the favorite side characters of most fans, as she was extremely funny.

Nadia could have been an intriguing roommate as well for the group, had the opportunity presented itself. Sure, she may have had a short-lived romance with Schmidt, but there was no actual emotional attachment between the two. Thus, it could have provided a lot of zany antics.

Remy

Remy New Girl

Remy only appeared in three episodes, but his impact was massive. This was due to the fact that he went from an immensely imposing and mysterious figure to becoming romantically interested in both Nick and Jess at the same time.

This change would provide one of the most memorable episodes from the series, but other than that, the audience would barely see him again. This was such a shame, as he could have been such a fun side character.

Angie

Angie

Angie may have been very rambunctious, but that ultimately would be what made her character quite memorable. It would have been nice to see a bit more of her in this series, even if her relationship with Nick was destined to fail.

Her sudden exit, which was simply her driving away from the cabin whilst Nick was asleep, was honestly a bit disappointing. This was a character who could have provided a lot to the show, had her time lasted even just a little longer.

Abby

Abby and Schdmit

Abby could have come back at any time, as she was Jess' sister. However, other than her three-episode tenure, fans would never see her return to the series again. This was so disappointing, as she was hilarious in her short run.

It would have been so cool to see how she progressed as an individual, as it was apparent that she had a lot of growing up to do. However, it was nice at least to see that the foundation was set for that to occur, as Jess seemed to inspire her to be a better person.
