Throughout the series of New Girlthe characters are mainly trying to find their life path - with careers, relationships, and friendships. However, that doesn't mean that they don't have caring parents or siblings that they love or hate. Some have strained families, while others have a few overbearing relatives.

Fans get the pleasure of meeting quite a few relatives of the main characters, from cousins to parents to siblings - so it's time to reflect on which ones were totally unlikable, and which ones fans are convinced are just straight-up wholesome and loving relatives. Schmidt's family definitely doesn't come out on top, but Jess' is pretty admirable.

Worst: Leslie Nelson

Schmidt, Leslie, CeCe, Jess, and Winston in New Girl

Aly is a fiery, sassy, intelligent, and totally lovable character, and Winston is all the better for it. However, she isn't exactly a fan of her ditsy and selfish sister, Leslie, and mistakenly leaves Winston in charge of 'entertaining' her.

She's trying to be a realtor, and ends up being pretty bad at it. Not only that, she's just a bit manipulative of Winston and is completely out of touch with reality. She isn't mean, but she's definitely not the best.

Best: Joan Day

New Girl Joan Day

Fans get the pleasure of meeting the unique and quirky Joan Day a few times, and she's a pretty hilarious and spunky person. Plus, she definitely has all the love in the world for Jess - and she proves it by being a bit overly protective.

It is definitely a little strange when she and Nick engage in some flirting, but fans are willing to look past it, because of all the relatives, Joan is pretty likable.

Worst: Gavin Schmidt

New Girl Gavin Schmidt & Jess Day, Loft

Gavin Schmidt appears like a pretty great guy on the outside. In fact, he even charms Jess into a date - which definitely turns into a really inappropriate and disgusting realization that he's the father of her roommate.

Besides his intelligence and charm, Gavin proves that he isn't exactly the best father. He tries his hardest, and there are some pretty wholesome moments, but it's hard for fans to truly forgive what he did to Schmidt.

Best: Bonnie Miller

New Girl Bonnie & Nick Miller

Bonnie Miller is definitely a little old school and a bit rough around the edges, but she undoubtedly has a heart of gold. She's a bit cold to Jess, and expects a LOT from her son in planning his father's funeral.

Still, though, Bonnie is a mother at heart, and a good one. She's caring and supportive, and she's a pretty wholesome character. There isn't much to complain about when it comes down to it.

Worst: Abby Day

New Girl Abby Day at Loft

Jess' sister appears out of the blue, and it's an extremely frustrating and stressful time for her. Abby is selfish, reckless, carefree, and kind of a mess. She also takes up seducing and dating Schmidt, which no one is on board for.

She and Jess have a bit of a redeeming loving sister moment, but overall, Abby doesn't seem like a supportive or caring person - let alone a good sister. She was one supporting character that was hard to really like.

Best: Charmaine

New Girl Winston's Mom Charmaine

Winston's mother is a tough cookie, and while she seems a bit overbearing and protective of Winston, it's all certainly out of love. Winston is afraid to tell her he's a cop because he knows she'll worry endlessly about him.

However, it turns out Winston's dad was a police officer, and fans learn that Charmaine is as wholesome, caring, and supportive as they come. Plus, she's fiery and lovable.

Worst: Priyanka

New Girl Cece's Mom Priyanka

With Cece and Schmidt's wedding underway, the only thing Cece wants is her mother's blessing. Of course, she's also terrified to tell her mother, Priyanka, that she's not marrying an Indian man.

While it's understandable that Priyanka is caught off guard and doesn't love Schmidt at first, she's surprisingly hateful, unforgiving, and selfish. She eventually decides that her daughter's love is what matters, but that doesn't mean she didn't already hurt feelings.

Best: Robby McFerrin

New Girl Robby & Jess Christmas

It's a little hysterical to list Robby as one of the characters' relatives, but all fans know that he is actually Jess' cousin. It's totally uncomfortable and cringy, but that doesn't mean Robby isn't still a fan favorite.

There's literally nothing to hate about Robby. He's charming, funny, selfless, smart, and talented. He's everyone's favorite supporting character, and undoubtedly one of the best relatives - even if it is a bit weird that he is one.

Worst: Walt Miller

New Girl Nick, Jess & Walter Miller

Like Schmidt, Nick didn't exactly have a great relationship with his dad. Fans only meet him once, and they really only learn that he's a con man that's more interested in manipulating Nick's friends than hanging out with him.

He's a nice enough guy, but he's also pretty selfish and flaky. There's a reason that Nick doesn't give too much of himself to his father. However, he was a bit crushed when his father passed. Yet, that doesn't make him a great relative.

Best: Bob Day

New Girl Bob Day

There's literally no family member that deserves as much love and attention as Bob Day. He's a huge teddy bear, and he's hilarious and wholesome and kind. His daughter's happiness is also his top priority, which makes him a loving dad.

Bob isn't always making the smartest decisions, but he's certainly a great parent and an adorably quirky character that all fans of this show can't help but love. There's nothing to hate about Bob.
