When taking a look at New Girl, it is apparent that the series would succeed because of the close relationships between the roommates of the loft. So many amazing memories would be formed by them, even if it was not always perfect. Yet, with the loft being so big, it was likely that they could have had a fifth roommate.

With the plethora of outstanding side characters this series produced, Jess and the gang would have had a ton of stellar options to go with. The fans of this series would certainly have loved to see it, as many of these characters were sadly not used on screen enough. Imagining the possible hijinks that could have occurred with a fifth roommate is fun too.

No matter the size of the connection these potential suitors had with the group, each of them seemed as though that they could have provided a lot of entertainment whilst living in the loft.

Bearclaw

Although his roles were rather limited, Bearclaw left quite the impact with fans. This is due to the fact that he was absolutely hysterical with both his dialogue and overall demeanor. It was what made him memorable.

He would have been a very intriguing option as a roommate. Nick certainly was a fan of him, so they could have had made a lot of memories together. His obscurity and kind heart would have made him fit in rather nicely.

Sadie

Sadie was a very close friend of Jess's, but she definitely was not used enough during the series. Given her strong connection with Jess, she could have been a good option as a roommate. She also was able to form a pretty cool friendship with Schmidt in her later appearances.

Her as a potential roommate would have been nice to see, especially because it would have given her character more of a purpose through the series. She clearly was very funny and should have been given more chances to shine.

Tran

Although Nick was standoffish when first meeting Tran at the park, he quickly warmed up to him. In fact, Nick would go as far as to call Tran his "magical best friend." This alone made Tran a potential option for the loft.

Sure, he was mostly silent, but he left a major impact on Nick because of his wisdom. The rest of the gang deserved to have some interactions with this absolute beauty, as he could have provided a lot of great storylines if utilized as a regular.

Coach

Coach did end up being a roommate again, but ultimately, he should have been there for the entire series. Of course, this did not come to fruition because Damon Wayans Jr. was already signed on to another project.

However, he certainly would have been a marvelous roommate, had he been there for the whole series. Fans have mixed reviews of his character, as it was hard for him to feel like a natural part of the group with him returning in the middle of the series. This would have been different if he was a mainstay.

Aly

Although Winston was immensely close with Ferguson, Aly would end up being the best part of the series for him. She not only turned out to be the perfect romantic partner for him, but also was an integral part of Winston's growth as a cop.

Aly also meshed with the group so nicely that she easily could have been a great roommate for the whole series. Fans loved her immensely as well, so it would have been a great move for the series.

Sam

Although he had a heated rivalry with Nick, Sam could have been an excellent fit for the loft. A massive reason behind this is the fact that he was actually a pretty normal character. This could have led to him being a leader of the group, as he could have stopped a lot of the conflicts with his rationality.

For this to have occurred, Sam and Nick would have needed to look past their differences. However, that could have been quite the challenge with the cause of their feud, Jess, living in the same space as them.

Robby

It was hard for anyone to argue with Robby, as he was simply one of the nicest and relaxed characters in the series. Even when Schmidt was jealous of him for dating Cece, his hatred for Robby would disappear quickly because of how cool he was.

Robby was easily one of the top side characters in this series, which is why he would always find a way to return. He could have been a wonderful roommate, as the entire group would end up liking him a lot, even with Jess and Cece both dating him.

Nadia

Nadia being the fifth roommate would have been an elite move for the series in regards to comedy. She was one of the funniest characters, as everything she said would result in the audience hysterically laughing.

She had proven to be a pretty reliable roommate too, as she used to live with Cece. She may have been a lot to handle for the rest of the group, but it would have been awesome to see her in this type of role too.

Abby

Abby was quite the handful, sure, but it would have been great to see her as the fifth roommate. There was so much potential to expand her storyline, as she could really only move forward in terms of development.

Although Jess would have had a lot to fix with her sister, it could have been pretty entertaining to witness. The men of the loft also seemed to like her a lot because of her carefree and fun personality. The audience's small glimpse of Abby was nothing short of spectacular, so seeing her in a more permanent role would have been so great.

Outside Dave

Outside Dave caused quite the stir while inside the loft, but giving him a home would have been a great move for the series. Although it is understandable that this did not occur, the idea of it is amazing.

He was easily among the strangest characters in the series, which naturally led to him being a favorite among fans. Even if he was the fifth roommate for a handful of episodes, this could have brought upon some intriguing storylines - and explored homelessness in a more nuanced way.
