The details for a new Final Fantasy XVI trailer have been leaked and it may arrive as early as today. FF16 launches on PS5 in 2023, but the scant gameplay footage has led some to believe that the release window isn't reliable and that it might be pushed back even further.

FF16 will be the first mainline Final Fantasy game released since 2016's FF15, which itself had a long and tumultuous development. This isn't to say that the Final Fantasy series has been dormant throughout that time, as the launch of FF7 Remake was equal to that of a mainline Final Fantasy title, as have the FF14 expansions. There have also been numerous spin-offs and remasters, like Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin and the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series. There is still a lot of hype going into the launch of FF16, as it's being made by the same internal studio within Square Enix that is responsible for FF14.

There were some concerns about new FF16 content missing the Tokyo Game Show 2022, but it seems that Square Enix is ready to show off more of the game. According to Nibel on Twitter, IGN Southeast Asia has released an article describing a brand-new FF16 trailer, in what could have been the result of an exclusive early look at the next trailer. It's possible that this new FF16 trailer will launch today and that the article just went up early by accident. The IGN Southeast Asia article has since been removed and currently goes to a dead link.

New Final Fantasy 16 Trailer May Focus On Different Kingdoms

According to the description of the trailer, it will focus on the different kingdoms of the FF16 world and their respective Eikons. The trailer also confirms that the land of Valisthea is dying, which explains the conflict surrounding the crystals that had been mentioned in earlier trailers. The new elements in the trailer include Clive (the protagonist of the game) exploring a region called The Deadlands with party members. This is odd, considering FF16 is supposed to lack party members. It's possible that this refers to AI-controlled party members who fight alongside Clive at specific parts of the story, but he spends most of the game fighting alone and using his Eikon powers to win battles.

A new trailer for FF16 is overdue and fans are eagerly awaiting an update about the game. It's a shame that the new trailer seemingly doesn't give a solid release date, but it's likely still too early to even nail down a season. FF16 is pegged as being one of the big upcoming third-party PS5 releases, and unlike the recently-announced Silent Hill 2 remake on PS5, it at least has a release year. It has been a big week for leaks, with Konami leaking the new Silent Hill games, and now the next Final Fantasy XVI trailer has made the rounds.
