Warning: contains a preview of Daredevil #31!

In a new preview for Marvel Comics' Daredevil #31, Elektra Natchios is sick of living by Matt Murdock's superhero principles, cutting loose to get the answers she needs. While the assassin has been filling in as a new Daredevil while Murdock has been doing time in jail, it seems as though maintaining his strict moral code is taking its toll. Combined with Elektra's fears that the Hand is making moves that only she and Matt can stop together, it makes sense that she's losing patience with proving herself to the incarcerated hero, becoming extremely aggressive with the criminals who stand between her and her quarry.

Despite her rage at the limits of the superhero role, Elektra has so far been effective as Hell's Kitchen's protector. While she certainly has her more brutal techniques and intimidation tactics such as demanding percentages from the criminal gangs operating in the borough, Elektra has prevented injury to civilians and kept her promise to Matt to avoid using lethal force. Elektra was especially impressive during the King in Black crossover event, which saw Knull the Symbiote God covering the globe with his symbiote legions and having them bond to helpless civilians. The new Daredevil even stopped her own heart to end a fight with possessed supervillain Typhoid Mary.

However, after her new ward was forced to shoot a villain during Daredevil's last mission, it looks like Elektra is done playing nice. The Marvel Comics preview for Daredevil #31 - from writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Mike Hawthorne - sees Elektra on a rampage, demanding to know where Mayor Wilson Fisk's newly appointed Kingpin Izzy Libris is hiding. Libris has cut a deal with the Hand to operate in the city and Elektra is not happy about it. Enjoy the preview pages below:

Elektra has embraced Daredevil's rules not because she agrees with them, but because she needs to prove to Matt Murdock that she's not using the Hand's latest plot as an excuse to indulge her darker impulses. It's understandable that, as her true enemy grows in influence, Elektra would chafe under restrictions that she feels make her less effective, but an even greater challenge is coming. Bullseye is on the loose, and with Matt Murdock having been stabbed in a prison yard fight last issue, the cover for Daredevil #31 hints that Daredevils past and present may not survive the villain's wrath.

But before that, it looks like Elektra is going to have some choice words for Fisk's chosen successor once she finds her. Izzy Libris originally seemed like an improvement on Wilson Fisk's brutal brand of crime, but as her reach has expanded, she's embraced more and more vicious methods, apparently culminating in giving the Hand a foothold in the new Daredevil's turf. See how Elektra fares in Daredevil #31 when it hits physical and digital retailers June 30.
