If DC Comics fans thought the original Dark Nights: Metal event was as wild or outlandish as the Justice League could get, they couldn't be more wrong. That's not an exaggeration, either. Because as shocking as The Batman Who Laughs may have been, there is simply no comparison to what Dark Nights: Death Metal has in store for its newest Dark Multiverse Batman... a Tyrannosaurus rex. That's right, the event will answer the question nobody asked: would the Dark Knight be more or less deadly if he was a carnivorous dinosaur?

By now fanss really should have expected this level of lunacy from Scott Snyder, Greg Capullo, Jonathan Glapion, and FCO Plascencia. Even aside from the hopes expressed by Snyder and Capullo about the 'Metal sequel' they hoped to unleash, the debut of Wonder Woman wielding her Chainsaw of Truth set the tone. One that was soon reinforced by a Grim Reaper biker Batman and a death metal Superman. And while story details are being kept for the miniseries itself, the latest preview confirms Wonder Woman will be meeting even more variations of Batman from across DC's multiverse. Including a T-rex. Which, strange as it may seem, has actually been alluded to by Snyder in the past.

With the new preview pages offered by DC directly, fans everywhere are able to process the reveal together. When Snyder told CBR that a robotic dinosaur had been considered as part of the Dark Nights sequel, most took it as an idea deemed too strange to make the cut. But after seeing the pages, that expectation may need to be adjusted. Here's Snyder's full quote regarding new, evil Batman doppelgangers, so readers know what they're in for:

I said to Greg, I want a big monstrous one and I have a few options. One we were thinking of was maybe an evil monster truck Batmobile that eventually became sentient and then killed everybody and became Batman of his world, or, I was like, what about dinosaur if it was the robot dinosaur in the Batcave and Batman was about to die and he uploaded his consciousness into the mechanical dinosaur, and then that kind of gets out of control and becomes an evil Batman on its world. Those are the kind of things that we talk about."

Will this plot prove to be the explanation behind the new Bat-Dinosaur? Only time will tell. Until then, bask in the prehistoric glory:
