An exciting new adventure will begin in Neverwinter, the MMORPG based on the TTRPG Dungeons & Dragons, with the start of Module 23: Dragonslayer, and its Dragon Hunt system has now been explained. Each module added to Neverwinter in the past year has expanded content, from adventures in Sharandar to the addition of the Bard Class in Jewel of the North. While Dragonslayer won't revamp further areas or add new classes, Module 23 will give players a fresh and exciting way to interact with the game's dragons, including the addition of Dragon Hunts.

Neverwinter's newest module has been developed to celebrate a new Dungeons & Dragons sourcebook, Fizban's Treasury of Dragons, and will feature Chromatic Dragons in difficult Dragon Hunts. Players can hunt down and battle young, adult, and ancient dragons in colors including Red, Blue, Green, White, and Black. Each dragon has different skills, and the age of the dragon determines the difficulty of the fight. The Dragon Hunts are designed to encourage co-op play with a party, simulating the invigorating satisfaction of community challenges found in the Dungeons & Dragons tabletop gameplay experience.

In a recent preview of Neverwinter's Dragonslayer module, it was revealed that the Dragon Hunt system is complex and offers numerous ways to customize each battle. To help break down these changes and help players fully utilize the new system, Neverwinter's development team has provided a walkthrough video that can be found on the NeverwinterGame YouTube channel. The video breaks down where players need to go to participate in Dragon Hunts, what types of hunts are available, and how the Dragon Hunt modifiers affect gameplay. Additionally, different rewards are available depending on the difficulty level of a Dragon Hunt, incentivizing players to test their skills and take on difficult challenges when setting up their hunts.

Neverwinter's Dragon Hunt walkthrough also explains many changes, including how dragons behave in battle. The Dragon Hunt system offers five different lairs for players to explore. Each lair's design is based on the D&D Chromatic Dragon the player is hunting, with biomes ranging from icy mountain peaks to dark, lava-filled dungeons. Additionally, the dragons have a range of behaviors and attacks specific to their type, requiring players to develop different strategies based on the dragon they are fighting. As they take damage, each dragon also displays injuries, allowing players to visually gauge their progress in the fight, adding an additional layer of immersion to the battles.

For those excited to embark on Dragon Hunts in Neverwinter, Module 23: Dragonslayer will be available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox on June 14, 2022. The update will also include improvements to the "Temple of Tiamet" trial, difficulty levels for "The Crown of Keldegonn" trial, and a remaster of the Dragons outside of the Dragon Hunts. With so many new challenges and ways to experience dragon encounters in Neverwinter, players will likely be busy gathering loot and exploring liars for months to come.
