Travelers happens to be one of the most scientifically accurate TV series ever made, avoiding several time travel paradoxes with its fantastic screenplay. A number of time-travelers appear in the 2010s, their task is to redirect the rivers of history in such as way that it does not lead to an apocalypse (so the Future does not have to suffer).

Each operative or "traveler" enters the body of a human who is just about to die, continuing their missions from The Director, a hyper-intelligent quantum AI. All travelers on this show have a split personality due to occupying the previous lives and relationships of their hosts, making their moral programming slightly twisted. Here are ten of the most important characters in Travelers, paired with the Dungeons & Dragons moral alignment system that best matches them.

David Mailer – Lawful Good (Crusader)

David Mailer is the only character in this list who has never been taken over by a traveler. He is a social worker who goes rather far out of his way to help people. As a Crusader, David can't help but protect those who are unable to do so on their own; for instance, he keeps a regular tab on a number of homeless people living in his city, bringing them food, water, and blankets whenever necessary.

David is extra fond of Marcy, taking her under his wing; at least until Traveler 3569 overwrites her consciousness when she was about to be killed by a group of thugs.

Grant MacLaren (3468) – Neutral Good (Benefactor)

Grant used to be an FBI Special Agent when his near-death in an elevator shaft resulted in Traveler 3468 replacing him. As 3468, Grant seems to have become considerably less aggressive, as stated by his FBI partner.

Being a Benefactor, Grant cannot endure causing pain of any kind, mentioning once that he used to eat only vegan food in the Future — because all life is precious. Grant is the leader of his team but shows a deep loyalty to his "wife" Kathryn. At one point, he chooses to save her in a planned plane crash while putting himself at grave risk.

Marcy Wharton (3569) – Chaotic Good (Rebel)

Marcy Wharton was a host with a severe mental disability, which was unfortunately transferred to Traveler-3569. She tends towards being a Rebel, mostly because she understands that her host's body does not have much time.

Due to this, Marcy can be reckless with her own body; she experiments with various treatments like slicing open her chest to install a seizure-controlling device, or when she convinces David to perform a spinal tap operation on her so she can evaluate her own progress.

Carly Shannon (3465) – Lawful Neutral (Judge)

Carly Shannon was an abused wife who suddenly transforms into a fighter when Traveler-3465 jumps in. Now, she doesn't take flak from anyone, least of all her husband, Jeff, whom she successfully intimidates without even trying too hard.

Carly embodies the Judge in that she insists on following The Director's protocols to the letter, even if it meant certain death. She only discards her strictness to the code when she knows that nuclear weapons are about to strike them, preferring to be with her (Carly's) son when everything comes to an end.

Trevor Holden (0115) – True Neutral (Undecided)

According to Carly, Trevor Holden, or rather, Traveler-0115 is "older than all of us put together." With Trevor's new consciousness possibly over 200 years old, he is a peaceful character, given to meditation and reveling in the freshness of nature that the Future clearly lacks.

Trevor almost never shows aggression, but at the same time, withholds positive emotions as well. As a True Neutral, Trevor has been through several bodies in the initial consciousness transfer experiments conducted by The Director; and therefore understands the true value of a living soul.

Philip Pearson (3326) – Chaotic Neutral (Free Spirit)

Philip Pearson was to be the Historian of the group, as Traveler-3326 was intended to store, in his memories, every event of consequence that occurs in the past. Unfortunately, his host was to be a severe heroin addict, which results in him experiencing severe withdrawal symptoms.

Due to his addiction, Philip is a lot more negligent in his actions, for instance when he breaks Protocol 3 — which states that travelers must not take or save lives unless instructed by The Director — by saving the life of a child who was to be murdered by his adoptive parents.

Grace Day (0027) – Lawful Evil (Dominator)

Grace Day was the kind, understanding counselor at Trevor's school before she became Traveler 0027 — a crude, disrespectful genius programmer from the Future. She expresses herself as a Dominator, constantly lying to the Traveler team about her actions, like when she reveals too late that she had rebooted The Director in order to stop The Faction.

Grace takes matters into her own hands, without conferring with anybody else, like when she used Marcy's brain to send a signal to the Future (while pretending that she was trying to help reset Marcy's jumbled code).

Walt Forbes (4112) – Neutral Evil (Malefactor)

Walt Forbes is Grant's FBI partner until he is written out by Traveler-4112 through the quantum frame. Although the team believes that it was The Director who sent him, they later discover that he was a radical member of The Faction, an organization from the Future that wanted to wrest power from the hands of The Director.

4112 was a Malefactor, given that his aim was to spread a dangerous virus throughout the world, culling a large fraction of the population because The Faction believes that controlling overpopulation would improve the future drastically.

Jeff Conniker – Chaotic Evil (Destroyer)

Jeff Conniker is the violent husband of Carly Shannon, subjecting her to regular beatings while drunk. In fact, he was meant to have killed Carly the same night she was overwritten, a fact that firmly defines him as a Destroyer.

Jeff hates losing control over his "wife" and goes to extreme lengths to harass her even after she throws him out. He files a report of abuse against Carly to prevent her from getting a job, and, in another instance, stalks Grant through his database in order to discover if he was cheating on his wife.

Vincent Ingram (001) – Chaotic Evil (Destroyer)

Vincent Ingram, Traveler-001, is the first traveler ever sent back by The Director. He fails to complete his mission as he did not want to die in the 9/11 attack; instead, he decides to take on a new identity and live his life in the comforts of the 21st century.

001 is a classic Destroyer. Not satisfied with having escaped from The Director, he continues to look for ways in which he can subvert the traveler program. In a flashback, he is shown to have been the reason for Marcy's disability as he tests her consciousness using an incomplete quantum frame. Vincent is also responsible for kidnapping and torturing several travelers to death in his quest to outmaneuver The Director.
