Netflix has not shied away from chaotic reality television in the last years. The most recent reality television show is a dating show called, The Ultimatum. The series revolves around the idea of a group of couples that decide to participate in a social experiment.
One person in the couple wants to gets married and the other person does not. The series is still pretty new with its first season. However, the series brought all the drama and of course, messy moments that the internet can not stop talking about.
Nate Proposes During "The Choice"
The couples must attend "The Choice" which is where they decide who they will be spending the next 3 weeks with. At this moment, emotions run high as each participant reveals their insecurities about dating someone new. As people begin to pair off, Hunter shockingly decides to propose to his girlfriend, Alexis. This moment is a surprise, but also very sweet.
Not long after, Nate chooses to propose to his girlfriend, Lauren. It would have been sweet too if the other cast members didn't find it weird timing and if Nate didn't whisper to Madlyn that he was going to choose her right before his proposal. Colby Kisses Another Girl
While the guys have their night out, it's revealed that Colby kissed another girl. During this moment, things get heated because Zay denies Colby's accusations. Colby implies that it was Zay who convinced a random girl to kiss Colby, while they were out one night.
it seemed Colby wanted to stir the pot by blaming Zay. Zay even proclaims that he needed to switch seats before things got physical. Either way, the whole situation did not paint Colby in a good light.

After a few days of the new couples spending time with one another, the girls also decide to have a girls' night out. Things get awkward as they discuss getting physical with each other's partners. It especially gets uncomfortable for Shanique when Madlyn goes on about how affectionate Randall has become with her.
Madlyn eventually begins to drunkenly point out all the ways Randall could use a girl like her. She also admits the kiss that happens between Randal and Madlyn that upsets Shanique.
Shanique And Randall Meet Up
Before the couples return to their original partners, Randall and Shanique meet up and get into an argument. The two still have strong feelings for one another but decide to discuss their problems alone while the experiment still goes on. Eventually, they get into a fight because Shanique wants to confront Randall about all the ways he has gotten closer to Madlyn.
Shanique walks away from the situation even though she was the one who decided to meet up. Randall brings up that she was the one who wanted to participate in the experiment. Ultimately, Shanique is upset that Randall seems too comfortable with his new partner. They eventually begin to realize things about their relationship. Madlyn Learns Colby Has Said He Is In An Open Relationship
When the couples get back together, they seem to be unbalanced. Later, Madlyn admits that she went through Colby's phone and found numbers from different girls. Madlyn confronts Colby and she brings up the fact that he told the girl that he was in an open relationship.
The two get into a huge argument which leads to Colby leaving for the night. The next morning, Madlyn is seen trying to call him. And their relationship seems to be unstable for the remainder of the season. Colby can't admit to his problems.
April Goes Through Jake's Phone
It was clear that Jake and Rae had a connection during their time together. When April and Jake reunite, they seem to bump heads at first, Jake admits that April handles things differently than Rae. These are the parts that he likes about Rae. Later, the two get into a fight over a video of Rae dancing on Jake's phone.
She admits that she saved the videos to her phone and Jake gets heated. He reveals that he can no longer trust April because of this invasion of privacy. April begins to suspect more happen between Rae and Jake. This whole thing happens on April's birthday.
April Thinks She Might Be Pregnant
The idea of April being pregnant is not necessarily messy, but then the idea of her being pregnant during this experiment is. The girls get together to celebrate Alexis' engagement. The girls are celebrating by drinking while April reflects on the possibility of being pregnant. Later on, April learns that she isn't pregnant.
But the couple learns to communicate better and support one another as the final decision comes closer. They seem to be on the same page and viewers wonder if they will take it to the next step and get married.
The Couples Go To A Winery
It is the first time most of the couples have been together since the switch back to the original couples. It gets awkward on the bus as everyone pretty much knows what went down between the trial couples. Some people are jealous and other couples that now realize who they truly want, which is the whole point of this reality tv social experiment show.
There are many times when the cast members exchange looks with one another and the editors don't hesitate to make things more comfortable. The overall dynamics have changed and it is hard to go back to the way things were. The couples are more comfortable now.
Rae And Zay Break Up For Real
Although many arguments break out between the couples, Rae and Zay get into the biggest fight of all towards the end of the experiment. Rae admits that she isn't ready to marry Zay after all. They talk about their relationship and later on, Rae begs Zay not to go out. She begins to grow upset with Zay because he spends the whole night away without letting her know where he was. He comes home the next morning to an irritated Rae.
Things get more intense and physical to the point of hopelessness for both of them. This results in the final breakup between the couple. With the drama alone, The Ultimatum could have the potential to be another guilty pleasure dating show.
The Other Reunion Reveal
After the couples make their "Ultimatum" the reunion reveals the final truths, months later. Fans were surprised when Madlyn walked to her seat with a baby bump and the couples seems to cool down and mature. While everyone talks about what's been going on with their relationships, one final messy moment occurs. There is a clip of Zay and Shanique that lead to a blow-up between Rae and Zay. Zay and Shanique got more physical than they led on.
Shanique reveals that she told Randall right away. However, it is Rae that grows visibly upset and emotional over the fact that she learned later on. She was especially upset because Zay had accused her of being sexual with Jake when she wasn't.
