Film fans can now listen to the extended Netflix ‘ta-dum’ startup sound for theatrical releases, which is scored by the legendary Hans Zimmer. Netflix is the leading streaming service giant of the entertainment industry, and it has a quick yet iconic startup sound, which was almost a screaming goat, for when either an original Netflix film or series is about to play. A sudden ‘ta-dum’ alongside the colorful Netflix logo appears. However, in recent years, Netflix has become a much bigger player in producing its own major films, and this has led to films like The Irishman and Marriage Story getting small theatrical releases as well. So this means Netflix needed a longer startup sound for when its films hit theatres.

The Twitter account named @blader tweeted the extended version of Netflix's ‘ta-dum,’ which Netflix got legendary film score composer Hans Zimmer to do, who is famous for composing scores for films like The Dark Knight trilogy and Man of Steel. Instead of the instantaneous ‘ta-Dum,’ there is a grand build-up of a superhero like a score that once it peaks, allows for a slightly quieter sounding ‘ta-dum’ to come in. Zimmer’s extended Netflix startup sound is certainly befitting of the big screen experience. It puts the intro more on par with the long and famous theatrical introductions like the formerly known 20th Century Fox or MGM’s Lion. Of course, it’s hard to tell when film fans will next get to hear Netflix’s Zimmer scored intro inside theatres. Although most theatres like AMC are hoping to open back up later this month, it’s by no means a guarantee as the coronavirus situation is ever-changing. Also, streaming services such as Netflix have reaped the rewards of streaming big films like Extraction and The Old guard in recent months. Hopefully, theatres can safely resume operations sooner rather than later, which would mean fans can eventually experience Netflix’s extended startup sound in the place it was designed for, a theatre.
