Bronson Pinchot is joining the cast of Netflix's The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina TV series as Sabrina's wicked high school principal. The show is based on the comic book property published by Archie Horror and was originally set up to serve as a companion series for The CW's Archie Comics adaptation Riverdale. Archie Comics Chief Creative Officer and Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is also overseeing the Sabrina TV show reboot, which was picked up by Netflix last December and given an immediate two-season order.

Pinchot is still best known for his role as Balki Bartokomous on the '80s sitcom Perfect Strangers, though he has also appeared on TV shows like Ray Donovan in more recent years. He joins Lucy Davis (Wonder Woman), Miranda Otto (Lord of the Rings), and Michelle Gomez (Doctor Who) as the other adult members of the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina TV show cast. On the opposite side of the age spectrum, Mad Men's Kiernan Shipka is playing Sabrina opposite Jaz Sinclair (Paper Towns) as her BFF Rosalind and relative newcomer Chance Perdomo as Sabrina's warlock cousin Ambrose.

Deadline is reporting that Pinchot has been tapped for a recurring role on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina as George Hawthorne. The puritanical principal of Baxter High is described as a "constant thorn" in Sabrina's side by the site, and will spend much of his time trying to mess up her and her friends' well-meaning ventures. He joins Richard Coyle's Father Blackwood on the show's roster of villains and antagonists for the eponymous teenage witch to do battle with.

Unlike the Sabrina the Teenage Witch comedy TV series that aired in the '90s, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is described as a horror-tinged coming of age story in the vein of its source material. Similar to Riverdale, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is expected to wear its pulpy genre influences on its sleeves via episode titles and overt homages to the supernatural horror genre. The official synopsis for the show even name-drops Rosemary's Baby and The Exorcist as the type of atmospheric horror/thrillers that Chilling Adventures is taking its cues form.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is further shaping up as a proudly feminist genre TV show, in the same vein as The CW's Supergirl and the network's upcoming Charmed reboot. That doesn't mean the patriarchal villains played by Pinchot and Coyle are the only antagonists on the series, either. Gomez's character, Mary Wardell, is a teacher at Baxter High possessed by the devil's handmaiden who conspires to seduce Sabrina to the dark side of magic. As such, Sabrina will have more than over-dominating men to worry about in her life.
