As the streaming wars heat up, Netflix seems to remain unaffected and continues adding more content to its catalogue every week.
Last week saw the arrival of the mystery film Earthquake Bird, the animated Christmas feature Klaus, and the third season of The Crown. Netflix also added Tom Ford’s A Single Man, the period drama Suffragette, and the cannibal horror film The Green Inferno, just to add a bit more variety to the mix. Directed by Monika Mitchell and written by Cara J. Russell, The Knight Before Christmas stars Josh Whitehouse as Sir Cole, an English medieval knight who is magically transported to the present day. Vanessa Hudgens plays Brooke, a high school science teacher who dreams of meeting her “knight in shining armor” – and she’s about to. It's a typical holiday rom-com, but if you want something light and Christmas-y this weekend, this is a good choice.
The Dragon Prince - Season 3
It didn’t take long for Wonderstorm to bring season 3 of The Dragon Prince. The series is set in the fantasy world of Xadia, which is divided into two factions: one populated by humans and the other by magical beings. There’s a lot of tension between these two sides, and conflict began when humans killed the dragon king and supposedly destroyed his heir’s egg. The Dragon Prince season 3 will find Rayla and Callum at the cusp of entering Xadia, with Ezran returning home to take his place on the throne.
Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings
An anthology series based on Dolly Parton’s songs? It’s more real than you think. Heartstrings took eight of Dolly Parton’s most iconic and beloved songs to showcase “the stories, memories, and inspirations” behind them. Viewers will learn the story behind songs like “If I Had Wings”, “Sugar Hill”, “Two Doors Down”, “Down from Dover” and, of course, “Jolene”. The cast of Heartstrings is full of familiar faces, such as Kathleen Turner, Ginnifer Goodwin, Colin O’Donoghue, Julianne Hough, and many, many more.
