This weekend, Netflix is bringing new seasons of two teen drama series and two drama movies. After the arrival of other streaming services at the end of 2019, the streaming wars were starting to heat up, but they seem to have calmed down for now, though there are still some platforms preparing to launch sometime this year. Until then, life at Netflix continues its course with a lot of content being added every week, both licensed and original.

Netflix’s catalogue was expanded last week with the sci-fi movie Freaks, the African movie All About Love, and the Thai comedy Tootsies & The Fake. The platform also welcomed Taylor Tomlinson’s comedy special Quarter-Life Crisis, season 3 of Castlevania, and the comedy thriller Spenser Confidential. When it comes to licensed content, this week won’t have many titles to choose from, with the coming-of-age rom-com Summer Night and the action crime thriller The Assignment.

As for original content, Netflix is taking a break from comedy and will instead focus on drama, with the third seasons of a teen drama series and another one directly from Spain, a drama movie from Ava DuVernay’s distribution company, and a drama mystery based on a book. Here are the best movies and TV shows coming to Netflix this weekend - March 13.

On My Block - season 3

Netflix Original Series On My Block is a teen TV series created by Lauren Iungerich, Eddie Gonzalez, and Jeremy Haft, that made its debut on Netflix in 2018. It's set in a rough inner-city Los Angeles neighborhood and follows four friends who are navigating through all the newness, pain, and excitement of high school and everything that comes with it. On My Block season 3 will follow the group after they were all abducted at the end of season 2, and they will have a new mission: find Lil’ Ricky, who is still alive. It obviously won’t be an easy nor danger-free task.

She then takes a job as caretaker of Justine (Daisy Prescott), a young girl with a spina bifida living in a racist household. The two create a unique bond and help each other grow and change. Justine will be available to stream on Netflix US, Canada, UK, New Zealand, and Australia.

Élite - season 3

Elite season 3

The Spanish thriller teen drama Elite is back with a third season on Netflix this weekend. Nobody said life at Las Encinas was going to be easy.
