Money Heist or La Casa De Papel is one of Netflix's most popular Spanish shows. In less than a week, we will once again be immersed in the heist on the Bank Of Spain. On their most ambitious and dangerous quest yet, we expect to see more twists and turns.

One of the things that keep us excited about this show is the varying storylines; particularly the love arcs between characters like Tokyo and Rio. Tokyo and Rio have had a complicated relationship, to say the least, with breakups and tangent arguments along the way. By the end of S3, despite Rio breaking up with Tokyo, the future of their  relationship/ friendship  is yet to be determined... but who else might get together?

The Professor

Since the beginning, we have seen Tokyo build an attachment for The Professor. The Professor recruited Tokyo to give her a mission, placing her in a family environment when she needed it the most. He ultimately saved her from a lifetime of pain in prison. In her narration, Tokyo spoke of her genuine interest for The Professor, mainly interested in how mysterious he was.

In S1 Episode 6 “La cálida Guerra Fría”, she goes on to flirt with him, but The Professor makes it clear that he is not interested. Despite this, the two form an unlikely bond and continue throughout all seasons to seek and watch out for each other.  If they were given the chance to be in a relationship, the Professor would have continued to deeply care for Tokyo taming her wild side with his gentler personality.

Nairobi

Nairobi and Tokyo were not initially friends. In fact, Nairobi’s straightforward, no BS personality did not mesh well with Tokyo’s hotheadedness. However, after a couple of drinks in S1 Episode 4 “Caballo de Troya”, Nairobi confides in Tokyo about her life and for the first time, and the two realize that they have more in common than they thought. Since then, the two girls, both from the original heist,  have been looking out for each other showing their love and support during tough times. Had their bond been explored, Nairobi and Tokyo would have made a power couple.

Denver

Tokyo and Denver also had a fling of their own. On another drinking bender in S1, Tokyo and Denver get a little bit too drunk and things spin out of control. Although both eventually branched out to different love interests, there remains a level of closeness between the two especially after  Denver’s father Moscú passed away.

In Season 3, as Rio breaks up with Tokyo, the latter seeks comfort from Denver even trying to kiss him. Although Denver rejects Tokyo’s advances, it can be said that in an alternate universe given the two’s proximity, there would have been a high possibility of Tokyo falling for Denver instead of Rio.

Berlin

Berlin is one of Money Heist’s complex characters. Audiences can grow to love his witty comments and somewhat charming sense of leadership but can also quickly be repulsed by his deeply sexist and inappropriate behavior. However, if there is one character who really hates Berlin, it is Tokyo. In S1, Tokyo voices her disdain for Berlin’s leadership and threatens to kill him many times during the heist.  But you know what they say about love: “you love something or someone so much that you hate them”. This could definitely be the case for Berlin and Tokyo. Their rivalry could actually be a sign of a deep-seated love for one another.

Mónica

Monica, or Stockholm, has one of the show's most interesting storylines. From a regular citizen being caught up in the 1st heist to becoming a part of the team in S3, her character arcs have been exciting for audiences to explore. Monica has shown to be empathetic and understanding of almost every character's situation. Monica’s general care for the team and her ability to bring the best out of Denver makes us optimistic that should she ever be in a relationship with Tokyo, she would do the same for her.

Palermo

Palermo is the new flamboyant revolutionary leader of the S3 heist and has already become a fan favorite with a sure expected return for S4. We know already from her past relationship with Berlin that Tokyo often gets into a row with whoever is the appointed leader of the heist.

Even though she still had her reservations, Tokyo seemed to hate Palermo less. The extent of  Palermo and Tokyo’s relationship has yet to be explored but Palermo’s playfulness could play well with Tokyo’s uptight attitude reminding her that it is okay to have fun once in a while.

Raquel

Despite having a complicated history, it wouldn’t be out of reach to imagine a relationship between Tokyo and Raquel. They both have headstrong personalities and share a love and admiration for The Professor.  Not only that, Raquel and Tokyo also both have a strong sense of loyalty and have shown that they go to extreme lengths to protect those they love. This would not only be unifying but also a fortifying aspect of a potential relationship. We would love for the writers to explore a Raquel and Tokyo relationship storyline in S4 which would allow us to learn more about these characters.

Moscow

Even if Moscú is no longer part of the Heist Team, he has had a significant impact on the lives of those around him,  particularly Tokyo. Though they had a rough start, Moscú eventually became a mentor for Tokyo and the latter was by his side as his life was coming to an end. Tokyo was obviously devastated by Moscú’s death showing her true feelings for him. If Moscú had stayed alive, he would have continued to be a great influence over Tokyo. Their relationship would have not only blossomed but also brought balance to Tokyo’s life.

Helsinki

Helsinki is everyone’s big bear. Besides being Nairobi’s best friend and potential love interest, he has also been there for the other characters including Tokyo. Helsinki’s sweet and caring personality is not only reassuring but also reminds the group that it is important to care for one another.

Throughout all seasons, we have known Tokyo to be restless and under pressure. Helsinki’s personality not only compliments Tokyo’s but also would help remind her of what is truly important; her life and the lives of those around her. Coming into S4, we are hoping to see more of Helsinki and Tokyo together.

Herself

In the second half of  S3, in a move that shocked us all, Rio broke up with Tokyo citing the latter’s tendency to always bring trouble within the relationship. Initially, Tokyo is deeply impacted by this and eventually spirals. But by the end of the S3 finale, it looks like a newly single life for Tokyo may not be such a bad idea. Tokyo has been one of the show’s most complicated characters and is at times emotionally unstable. She had a tough upbringing and has been involved in a life of crime since she was young. Being single in this next chapter could allow Tokyo the time to partake on a much-needed soul searching journey
