Watching Netflix on Google Nest Hub and Hub Max smart displays is finally possible. Fan-favorite shows are now accessible using the Google Home and Assistant apps via a recent update. Now, accessing Netflix on a smart display has become as easy as setting up a Google Nest device itself.

The Google Nest Hub is already capable of a lot of things, including letting users watch YouTube videos, listen to podcasts, and more. However, it was previously missing some notably streaming support. Last year, Google introduced the option of letting Google Home users access the popular Hulu streaming service by linking their accounts through the app. In a similar fashion, Google has now expanded the streaming service support even further, and arguably, for the most important and frequently watched service.

In a recent blog posting, Google confirmed users can now watch Netflix on their Google Nest Hub and Hub Max devices, as well as cast new streaming services like Peacock. To link a Netflix account, device owners will first need to access the settings menu by tapping on the gear icon. This is usually located in the center of the Google Home app once the app is launched. In the settings menu, users will then need to tap on the “Video” option found near the bottom under "Services." From here, tap on the "Link" option under Netflix to log in and connect an account.

Managing Streaming Services On Google Nest Hub

Although not all streaming services can be connected and directly accessed via a Nest device, many can still be cast to them. This includes Peacock, HBO Max and Disney+ and to do it, open the app and then tap on the cast icon - usually located in the top-right corner. In times where changes to an account need to be made, tap on the "+" icon found in the upper-left corner of the Google Home app, then select the “Videos” option. From here, users are able to manage their Netflix account, as well as any of the other available streaming services that are already connected to a Google Nest device.

Besides watching Netflix on the smart display, the new support also now means device owners gain access to a handful of platform-specific voice commands as well. For example, Netflix can be opened just by issuing the “Hey Google, open Netflix” voice command. Alternatively, device owners can jump straight to a video by saying “Hey Google, play” followed by the desired show's name. It's also worth noting that updates like these are usually handled on Google's end, so updating the Google Home app won't be necessary for new streaming services to appear on the list. As more streaming services like Netflix come through and gain support, and more Google Nest devices, like the bigger, better Google Home speaker successor, come into the mix, it should become even easier for users to listen or watch on more devices in the home.
