TV fans looking for an adorable small town, family complications, and romance will find it all in Ginny & GeorgiaWhen Georgia moves her teenage daughter Ginny and young son Austin to Wellsbury, she doesn't want to bring her past with her, too, but that's impossible as she's hiding a big secret.

Since the show focuses on teenagers and their high school experience, many of the characters are dealing with homework, dating issues, and college pressure, but the adults have lots of personal drama as well. When comparing the residents of Wellsbury and how smart they are, some seem super intelligent and others... not so much.

Marcus

Ginny loves both Marcus and Hunter, but while she's drawn to Max's older brother Marcus, he's not a very nice or likable person.

He isn't very smart, either. He treats people badly and doesn't realize that there will be consequences. He leads Padma on and it's clear that she likes him more than he likes her. When Marcus and Ginny sleep together, it seems like he's just using her, and he doesn't explain that he has feelings for her until much later. Marcus has to get his life together and it's going to take a while for him to mature.

Austin

Austin excited for a car picnic in Ginny & Georgia

Austin's a young kid, and for much of the show's first season, he lives in a world of make believe and imagination. He loves his mom's car picnics and believes her when she says his dad is a wizard who is sending him letters.

Austin finds out that Georgia has been writing those letters, and he's understandably hurt and upset. While Austin seems like a nice kid who can do well in school, he's influenced by his mom and hurts another kid at school, choosing to bully him back instead of taking the high road. This isn't the smartest decision, so he's ranked pretty low.

Abby

Ginny makes friends right away and becomes part of the friend group MANG. She becomes the closest to Max, but she spends some time with Abby as well and learns Abby's secret: her parents are having trouble in their marriage and she's having a hard time as a result.

Abby doesn't seem as smart as Max and Ginny. She's more focused on her family life than caring much about school, and she doesn't talk about future plans or what she wants to do. She doesn't seem to believe in herself or think that she will get anywhere.

Paul

Paul and Georgia standing outside on election night on Ginny and Georgia

Georgia gets engaged to Mayor Paul at the end of season 1, and in some ways, he's a smart guy. He cares about the town and wants to keep his political position, and he sees something powerful and inspiring in Georgia, which is why he's so attracted to her.

Paul isn't as smart as Georgia, though, and when he wins re-election, it's thanks to Georgia's brilliant idea that he show the town that he can actually make change happen. If he was more intelligent, he would come up with a plan on his own. He also can't tell that Georgia is hiding a few secrets and that something is off with her, and that takes his intelligence down a few notches.

Max

Ginny's new friend and neighbor Max is a lot of fun. She's a free spirit who can't wait to grow up and do big things, and when her girlfriend Sophie gets into college, she starts dreaming about spending time in NYC.

But while Max has a huge heart and vibrant personality, she can be a bit naive and throw all of her hopes into one person, like she does with Sophie. Max loses herself in the relationship, which is a relatable portrait of first love but also tough to watch. She also gets mad at Ginny for liking her brother Marcus instead of understanding Ginny's position, which puts her emotional intelligence a bit lower.

Ellen

In some ways, Ellen is very smart, understanding that her kids live secret lives and that while she can spy on them on social media, she can't know everything about them.

In other ways, Ellen is naive and innocent, not realizing that there's something strange about her new neighbor and the hold that she has on the town. If Ginny & Georgia returns for season 2, maybe Ellen will start to notice what's going on.

Georgia

Georgia makes a lot of bad decisions in these 10 episodes. She steals money from the city and keeps scheming, doing her best to ensure that she has some cash coming in.

Georgia is trying to be a good mother and she wants to protect her children. For her, that means continuing on her journey and doing what she has to do. While Georgia killed her second husband Kenny and has used and manipulated people for her own gain, she is intelligent enough to cover her tracks, and she acts sweet, prim, and proper so no one knows the truth. She's not perfect and she has made many mistakes, but she puts so much time, energy, and effort into her daily life that it's hard to say that she's not smart.

Ginny

At the end of season 1, Ginny and Austin leave Wellsbury, and Ginny is scared of what their mom is capable of. She just found out that Georgia killed Kenny with a poisonous flower, and she can't believe the danger that they're in as a PI is looking into the death.

Ginny is one of the most intelligent characters in the series. She understands things more fully and deeply than her peers, and right away, thanks to her offensive English teacher, she realizes that Wellsbury isn't as flawless as everyone pretends. Ginny stands up for herself and fans root for her every step of the way. She makes some mistakes in her dating life, but she's young and figuring it all out.

Zion

Georgia is happy in her new relationship with Paul but can't shake her love for Ginny's dad Zion.

A photographer who loves to travel and explore the world, Zion realizes that he hasn't been there for much of Ginny's life, but he does his best to show her that he cares. Whether talking about fatherhood through creative spoken word or realizing that he and Georgia are falling into the same old patterns, he wants to finally be a family, but he knows that Georgia isn't ready for that. It takes a really smart person to push aside what they want because of the reality of the situation.

Joe

It's fascinating to learn that Joe and Georgia met years ago when they were much younger. It was an interaction that stayed with both of them, and she has kept the sunglasses he gave her.

Joe is an observer and that makes him the second-most intelligent resident of Wellsbury. He runs his restaurant, which takes a lot of work, and he can tell that while he loves Georgia, he has to stay out of it because she's going to marry Paul. Joe does his best to give Ginny advice about her love life, and he can tell when she's stressed out, telling her to take a break and take care of herself. He's got emotional intelligence because he uses his gut instincts to figure out what people need.

Hunter

Hunter singing to Ginny on Ginny and Georgia

Hunter is the most intelligent character on Ginny & Georgia. When his relationship with Ginny falls apart, he tells her that he has treated her well and that he deserves better. He works hard in school, has a bright future, and is very self-aware.

Hunter is one of the most popular students at Wellsbury High, and everyone loves his musical talent and kind nature. He's honest with Ginny about what it has been like for him growing up biracial, and while they have a painful conversation where they hurt each other, he knows that it's necessary for them to be honest with each other.
