As soon as Netflix's Ginny & Georgia released on Netflix, viewers couldn't help but draw comparisons to the 2000s classic, Gilmore Girls. Both shows revolve around the complexities of single motherhood and the bond between mother and daughter. And while Ginny & Georgia's storyline is darker than Gilmore Girls, the love both women have for their children is the same.

With Georgia Miller and Lorelai Gilmore growing up as teen moms, they are significantly cooler in their kids' lives than the likes of their friends' parents. Georgia and Lorelai understand because it wasn't long ago that they were in their shoes. But between Georgia and Lorelai, which mom is the coolest of them all?

Georgia Miller: She Got Ginny Ready For Dates

Ginny and her mother had their ups and downs but when it came to men, Ginny knew that Georgia had all the secrets. When Ginny got asked out on her first date, Georgia came to the rescue and helped her get dolled up. She gave her a pep talk, she dressed her, she did her hair — Ginny was prepared. It's an adorable moment in both of their lives.

In Gilmore Girls, Rory's first date with Dean was basically Dean coming over for pizza and movies with her mom. And as cool as Lorelai was, the chaperoned date was uncomfortable for everyone.

It's hard to find a person who didn't like Lorelai. Even Christopher's former fiance, Sherry, and Luke's ex-girlfriend, Rachel, adored her! She wasn't just beautiful and silly, she was professional and giving.

For a kid, it's comforting to know that their mother gets along with everyone and that they didn't need to worry about them embarrassing them. Sadly for Ginny in Ginny & Georgia, there were a ton of people who didn't agree with Georgia, causing mayhem and worry for Ginny.

Georgia Miller: She Protected Her Kids

Lorelai did a phenomenal job of protecting Rory as a single mom. There's no denying that. However, when it comes to mama bears protecting their cubs, Georgia Miller doesn't mess around. She's a progressive, modern mother who takes things as they come. She believes her kids when they tell her something bad happened.

For her son Austin, she took matters into her own hands when he was being bullied. She also protects Ginny against those who are racist. Georgia takes protection to a whole other level.

Lorelai Gilmore: She Didn't Need A Man For Validation

One of the coolest things about Gilmore Girls is that Lorelai is a single mother who doesn't rely on a man to create a future for her and her daughter. Lorelai created her own luck, her own wealth, and her own rules. Sure, she had help from her parents but that's far better than hunting for a man for financial gain.

She had serious relationships with plenty of men but she never forgot who she was or what her goals were when she met them. On the flip side, Ginny & Georgia's Georgia needed a man to feel validated, confident, and to feel comforted.

Georgia Miller: Car Picnic!

One would think that a teenager would be happy to have a parent that her friends wanted to be around or to do spontaneous things all the time, but Ginny didn't feel that way about Georgia. Georgia's charm and spontaneity bother Ginny.

In one scene, Georgia picked up Austin and Ginny from school and surprised them with a car picnic. She got feel-good foods from fast-food restaurants and created a lovable picnic in her convertible for her and her kids. It may have bothered Ginny but Austin thought it was the coolest.

Lorelai Gilmore: She Started Her Own Business

Not only did Lorelai raise Rory alone but she became her own business owner as well. After working at the Independence Inn for years, Lorelai realized she could run her own inn after the years of experience she had. In the fourth season, her dreams became a reality when she and Sookie opened the Dragonfly Inn.

Being her own businesswoman after having a baby as a teenager and getting her degree later in life was a great impression on young people everywhere. It's never too late to follow your dreams.

Georgia Miller: Ginny's 16th Birthday Was Amazing

As much as Ginny hated her 16th birthday party, she should have given credit where it was due. Georgia spent a ton of money on creating an at-home spa day for Ginny and her friends.

She hired professionals for nails and skin and had all different kinds of snacks. The day was perfect. Ginny was too mad at her mom to realize how much effort went into the party but her friends had a great time.

Lorelai Gilmore: The Coolest Mom In Stars Hollow

Viewers didn't get an inside scoop at too many other moms living in Stars Hollow but by the looks of what was shown, Lorelai is by far the coolest mom in town. Mrs. Kim meant well but Lane could never be herself around her.

When Lane needed guidance, she went to Lorelai. Dean was also not afraid to go to Lorelai for Rory advice. She knew Rory better than anyone and always had a soft spot for Dean. She was the perfect combination of being maternal, free, and fun. Lorelai even cleared out her garage so that Lane and the boys could practice for free.

When it comes to fashion, Georgia makes no mistakes. Each outfit is perfectly intended and fitted. She knows that her looks can cover for her secrets, which is why she focuses so much on her appearance.

It's not to say that Lorelai wasn't stunning on Gilmore Girls but she wasn't the most fashionable of women. Georgia had a knack for fashion and a closet full of clothes that Ginny could browse through.

Lorelai Gilmore: Open & Honest Communication

Lorelai is the ultimate cool mom because she encouraged open and honest communication with Rory. She hated being left out and wanted to be aware of everything going on in Rory's life.

They didn't always need to talk about it but Lorelai didn't want to be left out. The two girls talked about everything from business to schoolwork to sex to music — it was the perfect relationship. Georgia could have had that with Ginny if she was more forthcoming about her past and their reasons for moving.
