Netflix’s Enola Holmes has landed a new graphic novel titled Mycroft’s Dangerous Game. The sister of Sherlock Holmes continues to headline stories of her own with the upcoming young adult release from Legendary Comics.
The Netflix film starring Millie Bobby Brown in the titular role of Enola Holmes was a promising start for a franchise with a new spin on the world’s greatest detective. The rambunctious teenage sister of Sherlock encounters mysteries of her own, proving she shares some of his investigative skills. As a sequel has been announced for next year, a followup graphic novel will also be expanding on Enola’s adventures.
Enola Holmes’ story continues in a new graphic novel, Mycroft’s Dangerous Game coming on August 23, 2022. Legendary Comics YA's young adult graphic novel will feature a story by Nancy Springer (The Enola Holmes Mysteries) written by Mickey George (The Heart Hunter), with art by Giorgia Sposito (Doctor Who: Prisoners of Time), and a cover by Cat Staggs (Smallville: Season 11) which has been released. The graphic novel tells a new story which fills in the gap between the Netflix film and the upcoming second installment. After a pact of anarchists abduct Mycroft, Enola is looking for answers with the hope of saving her brother. Teaming up with Lord Tewkesbury and a young lad “Shag,” Enola’s investigation takes a turn and reveals the anarchists’ sinister plan.
Based on Nancy Springer’s Edgar Award-nominated books, her six novels following the teenage detective set the stage for Enola’s initial Netflix adaptation. Now, Springer’s work fittingly inspires her graphic novel debut ahead of the film’s sequel. Legendary Comics’ senior editor Nikita Kannekanti spoke on the upcoming graphic novel, saying, “We are so excited to expand Enola’s world and story with an exciting new adventure in our graphic novel from this extremely talented creative team… Nancy has come up with a really fun story with some charming new characters and some returning familiar faces. I hope fans will enjoy solving the mystery with Enola!”
Further developing Enola’s quirky family dynamics, Mycroft’s Dangerous Game will be a treat for fans of the Netflix film. Since the graphic novel is being produced by Legendary, it should be treated as canon in the franchise. Rather than simply adapting one of Springer’s book as a graphic novel, it has been announced as an extension of the film. Enola Holmes’ next adventure will be required reading ahead of the Netflix sequel.
