Hulu might be the more intuitive streaming platform when it comes to sitcoms, but Netflix has some great choices right now. Netflix puts out both older and newer material, offering original programs along with recent and vintage cable sitcoms. NBC's shows are the most highly rated sitcoms on the streaming platform.

It's great to enjoy a sitcom without worrying about any commercials, so pull up Netflix and see what strikes your fancy. From The Good Place to The Andy Griffith Show, there is quite a variety to choose from. These ten shows are ranked by IMDb, with the best one saved for last.

Updated on October 1st, 2020, by Richard Keller:  One of the best things to do on a streaming service is binge sitcoms. It can be soothing after a long week. Luckily, Netflix has plenty of sitcoms to watch. Whether they're re-watched favorites or new views, we've revisited this list with another five selections for your viewing pleasure.

Sister, Sister: 6.2

Tia, Roger, and Tamera in Sister, Sister

Netflix subscribers in search of their 90s sitcom fix don't have to look long. Their dose of nostalgia is available in Sister, Sister. It brings back the simplicity of family sitcoms that appealed to a generation of viewers.

Tia and Tamara Mowry are the sisters of the show. The twins were separated at birth and adopted, respectively, by a single mother, played by Jackée Harry, and a couple in which the adoptive mother has passed away and the father is played by Tim Reid. Sister, Sister details the twins' relationship as they get to know each other and form a family with their respective parents.

Fuller House: 6.8

Fuller House Season 5 Netflix

Fans have enjoyed Fuller House through its fifth and final season. There are plenty of episodes to catch up on if you haven't seen them all. This Netflix original began as the highly anticipated reboot of Full House, and it has developed into a unique show with some quirks and characters all its own.

It's fun to see DJ, Stephanie, and Kimmy work together to raise a house full of kids. While some of the humor doesn't go over quite as well as Full House's did, it's watched and enjoyed by a lot of people.

Mr. Iglesias: 7.1

Gabriel Iglesias stars as a teacher in "Mr. Iglesias."

The tradition of giving comedians the lead role in sitcoms continues on Netflix with Mr. Iglesias. It stars Gabriel Iglesias as Gabe Iglesias. He teaches a classroom of gifted and unusual students at the high school he attended as a kid.

Mr. Iglesias is a feel-good sitcom that doesn't focus on the students' bad habits. Instead, Gabe's goal is to keep them fully integrated into the school. This stops them from being removed from the school by a nasty assistant principal.

Alexa & Katie: 7.4

Alexa and Katie dealt with a child's cancer and friendship

This Netflix original takes a different look at best friends who deal with the ups and downs of high school. One of the main characters, Alexa, is dealing with cancer as the series begins. However, she's not portrayed as being down on herself.

Rather, she's determined to live a normal life. She gets to do this with help from her best friend, Katie. Sometimes, this results in rebellious activities that panic her parents.

Young & Hungry: 7.4

Young And Hungry

Young & Hungry was on Freeform for four years. The show centers on Gabi Diamond, played by Emily Osment. Gabi is hired as the personal chef to Josh Kaminski, a rich tech entrepreneur. Things heat up outside of the kitchen in the very first episode when Josh and Gabi have a one-night stand. Check out the series to see how the cast navigates life and relationships.

The Ranch: 7.5

Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson star in "The Ranch."

Another Netflix original, this dramedy is a traditional sitcom filmed in front of an audience. It's also a show with an all-star cast. Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson star as brothers Colt and Rooster Bennett. They help run the ranch owned by their father, played by Sam Elliott.

In addition to these stars, The Ranch also stars Deborah Winger as the boy's mother and Elisha Cuthbert as Colt's love interest. On top of That 70s Show stars Kutcher and Masterson, other actors from that sitcom have recurring roles on the program.

Cheers: 7.8

Cheers needs no introduction, and it is available on Hulu, Peacock, and Netflix. The show remains important in television culture and offers its fans a familiar scene that they can always return to. All the episodes are there waiting for fans who love the Shelley Long era or the Kirstie Alley era, or who just want to hear the bar yell "Norm!"

Never Have I Ever: 7.9

"Never Have I Ever" is created by Mindy Kaling.

Created by Mindy Kaling, Never Have I Ever is a coming-of-age story based somewhat on Kaling's teenage life. 15-year-old Devi Vishwakumar has to deal with young adolescence and high school like anyone else.

The added element to the dramedy is that it opens with the death of Devi's father. Then, she loses the use of her legs for three months. Thus, she has to practically restart her high school life and deal with a new family dynamic.

One Day At A Time: 8.2

Marcel Ruiz Rita Moreno Justina Machado Todd Grinnell and Isabella Gomez in One Day At a Time Netflix

Norman Lear's original One Day at a Time aired from 1975 to 1984. Much like they did with Full House and Fuller House, Netflix took a classic sitcom and created something new. Their One Day at a Time launched in 2017 and is about a single Latina mother raising her children with the help of her mom. This show has an interesting trajectory because, after its third season, it was canceled by Netflix and picked up by Pop TV.

The Good Place: 8.2

NBC's The Good Place concluded in January 2020 after four seasons. As Eleanor Shellstrop, Kristen Bell navigates her unexpected time in the afterlife. With Michael (Ted Danson) as a guide, viewers see what happens when people try to redouble their efforts to be "good."

Schitt's Creek: 8.3

Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara are a comedic match made in heaven on Schitt's Creek. They play Johnny and Moira Rose, aristocrats who are ordered out of their home with only fifteen minutes to collect personal belongings. Johnny had purchased a small town called Schitt's Creek for his son as a joke, and that's where the family must go to stay afloat.

The Andy Griffith Show: 8.3

Watch Andy, Opie, Barney, and Aunt Bee on The Andy Griffith Show. Andy works hard as a single dad to provide for his son, and he's got his work cut out for him. Things at home and in the Sheriff's office can get hectic, but Andy has a great support system with his beloved Aunt Bee and Deputy Barney Fife. It's great that the show is available to new and old generations of viewers.

Community: 8.5

Community

Community had a six-season run on NBC and is now a featured sitcom on Netflix. In a cinematic world of sprawling university greens and Ivy League dramas, a show revolving around a community college feels real and refreshing.

Students come together out of their unique circumstances (for example, one is a lawyer who has been sent back to school because his bachelor's degree is fake). The humor is an acquired taste, but the show is one of Netflix's most highly rated sitcom acquisitions.

The Office: 8.9

NBC's The Office is one of the most-watched sitcoms out there. Most fans know that the British version of The Office with Ricky Gervais came first, but that show only lasted for two short seasons (six episodes each) and a two-part Christmas special.

The US take with Steve Carell, on the other hand, was on the air for nine seasons. This is one of those shows that devotees have memorized; some find it comforting and leave it on as a nightlight.
