Netflix has released a full trailer showing off 28 of their upcoming original films for 2022. Netflix is currently the leading the streaming service race in overall subscriptions, outpacing competition like Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, HBO Max, and many more. Founded in 1997 as a mail-based DVD rental service, Netflix evolved to streaming, taking over the platform and beating out the competition by being the first to offer original and licensed content, starting with the 2013 debut of House of Cards. Netflix currently has over 200 million subscribers worldwide, with Amazon Prime Video trailing behind in second place.

Netflix has a number of top-performing original TV shows and movies, with much more on the way. In 2021, the streamer released hundreds of new shows, including Cobra Kai season 4, The Witcher season 2, Squid Game, You season 3, Sex Education season 3, Sweet Tooth season 1, and more. On the film side, Netflix also released a number of high-profile projects, many of which broke records for the service, including the Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot-led mega-hit action movie Red Noticeplus The Kissing Booth 3, Sweet Girl, The Guilty, Army of the Dead, Army of Thieves, The Power of the Dog, and many more.

Netflix has now released a trailer for their upcoming 2022 film slate, which features a first look at their most ambitious assembly of titles yet. From big-budget action and sci-fi films, to A-list comedies and well-known children's properties, Netflix has a robust amount of films dropping this year. The streamer is pushing out a new film every week, according to the trailer, which is only a partial list of everything they have releasing throughout 2022. Take a look at the trailer below:

Among the movies in the jam-packed trailer are some highly anticipated projects. These include the long-awaited Knives Out 2 with Daniel Craig, The Gray Man starring Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans, Ryan Reynolds' new sci-fi movie The Adam Project, Guillermo del Toro's Pinnochio, Enola Holmes 2, the Halle Berry-led sci-fi adventure The Mothership, and comedies like You People from Jonah Hill and Eddie Murphy, and Me Time, with Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg. The trailer also includes some family-friendly flicks, like the upcoming animated The Sea Beast, Slumberland starring Jason Momoa, and The School for Good and Evil with Charlize Theron and Kerry Washington.

Not featured in the trailer is the new adaptation of Roald Dahl's Matilda with Lashana Lynch and Emma Thompson, as well as Rebel Wilson's cheerleader comedy Senior Year, both of which will debut in 2022. Also not in the trailer but incoming for 2022 is Tetsurō Araki's Bubble, Blonde with Ana de Armas, Extraction 2 with Chris Hemsworth, and more. Netflix is also known to acquire films via film festivals, such as Sundance, SXSW and Venice, which will likely play a factor in new content throughout 2022.

Subscribers are sure to have a full year of Netflix content with this line-up, especially considering the not-yet-seen titles in their Q3 and Q4 slate. While some critics have found the Netflix originals to be lacking, there's no denying their viability on the streamer when considering their reported numbers. Red Notice, in particular, was Netflix's most popular movie ever, spawning a deal to make Red Notice 2 and 3 back-to-back, signaling the strength of viewership numbers over critical reception. With Covid-19 wreaking havoc on the box office and the model of new releases leaning more towards streaming, Netflix is primed to reach more and more viewers as time goes on, with 2022 looking to be their biggest yet for original films.
