Michael Weatherly and Sasha Alexander, who starred together on NCIS, are reunited in a photo taken on the set of Bull. Inspired by the early career of Dr. Phil McGraw, Bull premiered on CBS in 2016. The series began its run by following employees at Trial Analysis Corporation, a jury consulting firm, which is led by Dr. Jason Bull (Weatherly). A psychologist and trial expert, Weatherly’s character uses his expertise to pick out the best jurors and the best arguments to win their cases. Back in January, it was announced that Bull was ending with season 6.

During the early days of NCIS, Alexander and Weatherly were part of the procedural’s main cast. They portrayed Caitlin “Kate” Todd and Anthony “Tony” DiNozzo, respectively, and they were enjoyed by fans for their bickering banter that wouldn’t quite be replicated in future seasons. Kate was memorably killed off in the finale of NCIS season 2, as Alexander decided to leave the show. But in a new photo from the set of Bull, the two co-stars are reunited.

Alexander posted the photo to her Instagram page. In the caption, Alexander wrote: “Reunited and it feels sooo goood.” Alexander explained further in her Instagram stories that she would be directing Bull season 6, episode 20. The NCIS alum has also directed episodes of the crime drama series Rizzoli & Isles, in which she also co-starred, and an episode of YOU season 4. Bull will be her next project working behind the camera.

In an interview with TVLine in 2016, Alexander opened up about why she decided to leave NCIS so early on. The actress said that it was her choice, explaining that it was in conversations with Weatherly that she began to realize her desire to walk away from the series. In those conversations, Alexander recalled Weatherly comparing procedural shows like NCIS to making sausage each and every week. “You don’t change the flavors too much,” Alexander remembered him saying. She replied that she didn’t want to do that, preferring to play characters that are “always growing, always pushing the envelope.”

As it draws to a close, Bull is likely most remembered for the behind-the-scenes controversy involving Weatherly’s alleged treatment of Eliza Dushku. Though she joined the CBS show at the end of its first season, with a plan to return as a regular cast member for season 2, Dushku exited the series as the result of what she would later describe as Weatherly’s on-set sexual harassment and belittlement. Dushku detailed her experiences while testifying to a congressional committee in November 2021.
