When NCIS debuted in 2003, it was a spin-off of the military courtroom drama JAG. Just six seasons into the series, NCIS got its own spin-off in NCIS Los Angeles, and five more seasons later, NCIS New Orleans debuted. The trio of procedural series follows crimes connected to the United States military with a combination of standalone episodes and season-long arcs.
All of the characters in the different series have different law enforcement backgrounds. In NCIS New Orleans the main characters have worked for a variety of law enforcement agencies before finding their home in NCIS. With different backgrounds, they have different approaches to solving cases. Those backgrounds and approaches make for a good foundation to figure out which Hogwarts House the main characters would be sorted into.
Sonja Percy: Ravenclaw
Sonja Percy only remained a member of NCIS for a few seasons, but she made a big impression before leaving to work for the FBI. As a former ATF agent with a background in undercover work, Percy has a vast knowledge base to build on with each new job she takes.
When first joining the team, Percy exhibits an appetite for knowledge. She quickly memorizes procedures and codes to make sure she can keep up with everyone else. Percy also offers up her own expertise (and undercover residences) for cases in her wheelhouse. She even took on training in explosives before joining NCIS. As someone who loves to learn, she’s definitely a Ravenclaw.
Chris LaSalle: Gryffindor
Before working for NCIS, Chris LaSalle worked for the New Orleans Police Department. The job took an emotional toll on him, and it isn’t until working a case with Dwayne Pride that he realizes he needs a change. He follows his instincts and trades his old badge for a new one with NCIS.
Following his instincts is something LaSalle does often. He’s very much led by his emotional state, causing him to make bold choices that can get him in trouble when his friends or family are involved in cases. LaSalle is also someone who frequently puts himself in the line of fire in the name of justice, which ultimately costs him dearly. He’s an easy sort into Gryffindor.
Meredith Brody: Slytherin
One of the original agents in the spin-off series, Meredith Brody didn’t return for the third season. Feeling too much guilt for the role she played in the New Orleans office facing an FBI inquiry, she opts out of her job.
That choice is a surprising one from her since she is praised early in the series for climbing the ladder in NCIS. Meredith is the youngest woman in her position in the Midwest offices before transferring to New Orleans. She’s someone who is willing to go the extra mile and deceive everyone around her if it means getting the bad guy as well. Her ambition and her ruthlessness in the field make her a fit for Slytherin.
Loretta Wade: Ravenclaw
As the medical examiner for military cases, we already know Loretta Wade is smart. She has a working understanding of medicine that allows her to perform emergency procedures on living people as well as figure out some pretty obscure causes of death.
Loretta could lean toward the Hufflepuff house considering her mothering instinct with younger agents, and her taking in a pair of brothers. She was even Brody’s landlord in the first two seasons. Her need for knowledge and understanding trumps all though, making her a Ravenclaw.
Sebastian Lund: Hufflepuff
With a head for numbers and a penchant for research, Sebastian Lund could have been a Ravenclaw as well in another life. He and Loretta actually share a lot of similar characteristics when it comes to Hogwarts Houses.
Like Loretta, Sebastian longs to connect with others. While he doesn’t take in displaced children to do it, he does consider the NCIS team his family. He even decides to become a probationary agent and get out of the lab once in a while. His focus on loyalty and his hard work to help the team means he belongs in Hufflepuff.
Patton Plame: Ravenclaw
Patton Plame, or “Triple P” as he’s affectionately known by his teammates, has a bit of a dark past. He’s a recovering gambler who still loves to figure out the odds. Now, he just does it for NCIS cases.
Patton is as good with numbers as Sebastian, but he’s not as interested in quite as many subjects. Instead, Patton is almost singularly focused on technology. He knows anything and everything there is to know about coding and hacking. His commitment to keeping up with the latest in cybercrime, and his desire to learn as much as possible when it comes to technology, land him in Ravenclaw.
Douglas Hamilton: Slytherin
For the first four seasons of the series, Douglas Hamilton is a thorn in the side of the NCIS team. Originally a local councilman, Hamilton finds his way to the post of Mayor thanks to his competition being convicted of a crime.
Hamilton spends most of his time consumed with preserving a very particular image of New Orleans instead of worrying about what the citizens actually need. He’s more interested in his own power and status than he is anyone else. That ambition means Hamilton fits in well in Slytherin.
Tammy Gregorio: Gryffindor
Tammy Gregorio joins the series as an FBI agent in season three. Though she’s initially supposed to investigate the NCIS team, it’s clear she just wants to do her job - and do it well. Gregorio is most concerned with getting justice, even if she has to do things she doesn’t actually want to do.
She’s willing to be the bad guy in a situation if it means getting closure for victims. That can sometimes put her at odds with both the FBI and NCIS agents she interacts with, but Gregorio doesn’t let that stop her from trusting her instincts. She’s a Gryffindor.
Laurel Pride: Ravenclaw
Laurel Pride isn’t a main character, but she is one of the few to recur throughout the entire series. The daughter of Dwayne Pride, she begins the series as a university student trying to figure out her future.
Laurel proves that she’s got a good head on her shoulders time and again with her appearances. Not only does she have an aptitude for music, but she’s often able to follow along with the detective work completed by her father and his team. She’s also always ready to give her own father advice when he’s turning over a problem and is mature enough to realize she doesn’t want a degree in the music she’s been pursuing. Laurel’s logical attitude and wide range of interests would find her right at home in Ravenclaw.
Dwayne “King” Pride: Hufflepuff
Dwayne Pride leads the local NCIS office, but everyone in New Orleans calls him King. He’s well respected by the locals - whether they’re celebrity chefs or kids displaced by a hurricane. Pride doesn’t just lead a team in NCIS; he builds a family.
He’s unusual in the franchise in that he makes the extra rooms in the local office his home. The large kitchen means he’s always serving up New Orleans cuisine for his team and their guests. Loyalty and honoring commitment mean everything to him. In fact, when Laurel makes the decision to stop pursuing her degree, he convinces her to honor the commitment she made and at the very least finish the semester. Pride never turns his back on those that he works with - or those he considers family - earning him a spot in Hufflepuff.
