A brand-new NBA 2K23 gameplay trailer shows off the basketball simulator's extremely realistic graphics and animations. This year's entry in the long-running sports series will feature esteemed athletes like Devin Booker, Michael Jordan, Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird across its various covers. While the NBA 2K23 cover athletes were revealed earlier this month, the title's reinvigorated gameplay has just been unveiled in a new First Look trailer.

While gameplay has only recently been revealed, five separate editions of NBA 2k23 were already detailed earlier this month. The standard edition and special digital deluxe edition of the game will both feature Devin Booker, the 25-year-old NBA All-Star who currently plays for the Phoenix Suns. The Championship and Michael Jordan editions of NBA 2K23, meanwhile, will feature Jordan on the cover to honor his iconic jersey number. Finally, WNBA legends Diana Taurasi and Sue Bird will grace an alternate cover of the game's standard edition. While the reveal of Michael Jordan as a NBA 2K23 cover athlete was exciting, the recent gameplay showcase is an even more impressive display.

A first look at NBA 2K23 gameplay, posted to YouTube by 2K, shows off the basketball simulator's truly impressive graphics and animations. Shining a spotlight on both NBA and WNBA stars, the trailer shows off incredibly realistic models and movements during its intense competitive gameplay. Each athlete is rendered in excruciating detail that extends from their hair to their custom sneakers. NBA 2K23's animations let basketball legends dribble, pass, dunk and celebrate just like they would in real life. While few specific details are provided, this initial glimpse at NBA 2K23 gameplay looks like it could be the most realistic sports game yet.

While the first NBA 2K22 gameplay trailer was quite impressive, NBA 2K23 looks to improve upon its predecessor in several ways. Physical interactions look even more intense in the upcoming title, with players pulling off powerful dunks and risky shots past their rivals. Defense looks equally intense, with players smacking the ball right out of the air before it can reach the net. Each individual player looks even more detailed than they were in NBA 2K22, with Devin Booker's purple "Be Legendary" Kobe sneakers being a particularly memorable demonstration of the title's realistic graphics.

NBA 2K23 is shaping up to be the most realistic sports game on the market. Between the photorealistic graphics and the lifelike animations, each basketball legend is brought to life in breathtaking detail on and off the court. While gameplay innovations have not yet been detailed, based on appearances NBA 2K23 will be a massive leap beyond its predecessors and a slam dunk for the franchise.
