NBA 2K22 gives players a fun and diverse experience as they complete side activities, manage their careers, and create their own unique character. The preceding game's mechanics have been improved upon, and there are new areas to explore in both the next-gen and current-gen versions of the game. Players will roam the City or travel aboard a luxury cruise ship: Cancha Del Mar.

Updates and changes to the game have given players a fresh experience and plenty of assorted activities to complete, including earning NBA 2K22's new badges. As with each new iteration of the NBA 2K series, there are new ways to play that can be somewhat unclear at first. Players looking to develop their character's story in MyCareer will need to wait for opportunities to be presented to them.

Along with earning MVP points to upgrade to the penthouse, NBA 2K22's MyCareer mode gives players the option to request to be traded to another team. However, it's not as straightforward as simply putting in the request. Trading is built into the story, and players must wait for a specific cutscene with their manager to initiate the trading process. This will not happen until after the first 10 games when the character becomes a starter. After beginning the process, there are a few steps that need to be taken in order to choose which team to go to and confirm the trade.

Requesting a Trade in NBA 2K22

Requesting a trade in NBA 2K22 is very different from previous games. To begin the trading process, players need to have their character become a starter. This happens after finishing 10 games with the team that drafted them. After reaching that point, a cutscene triggers where players will sit down with their GM to discuss the move up to starter. From there, it will take a bit of time to complete the process, but there will be various actions and dialogue options that must be chosen in order to complete the trade quickly.

The next step will be when Kendrick Perkins posts a video discussing trade rumors and bad-mouthing the player. After viewing the video, Ricky will ask the player to confirm or deny the rumor. Choose, "Yes. I want a fresh start somewhere else," to continue with the trade request. Play the next game to trigger a cutscene where the player has an uncomfortable interaction with their teammate who has also heard the rumors. To streamline the process from here, players can simulate games one at a time as they wait for each step to become available.

During the agent meaning, players will be able to choose their top three picks for the trade. The character usually gets an offer from their first pick, so choose a team with high-rated players that complement the character's skills. Choosing to be aggressive about the trade will speed up the process. Players will then receive a message instructing the character to talk to their GM and break the news, then talk to Ricky to find out about a television interview. Kendrick Perkins will have more to say about the player. Then, finally, the last agent meeting will come up where the player will be told they have been traded to their top pick.
