The latest entry in the NBA 2K series, NBA 2K22, will be releasing on September 10 for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Ahead of its launch, developers have provided a few glimpses into some of the new features coming to the game. Here's everything that's been revealed thus far.

First and foremost, it's worth noting that not every new feature getting introduced to NBA 2K22 will be universal. In particular, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S users will have access to certain elements that other NBA 2K22 players will not. PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch users will be greeted with more traditional NBA 2K gameplay instead. For example, The Neighborhood will serve as a stand-in for The City on most consoles, and MyCAREER's new integration with The City will likewise only be present in PS5 and Xbox Series X/S editions of the game.

A more significant amount of in-depth information has yet to be revealed, as well, though additional news is slated to come out in August and early September as NBA 2K22's release date draws closer. For the time being, new and improving features have only been briefly discussed in the NBA 2K22 features preview released by developers in mid-July.

The shot contest and blocking system on the defensive side have been entirely reworked in NBA 2K22. New signatures moves and combos are likewise being introduced to offensive players, and many of these elements have been altered to be more skill-based than in previous games.

Specific details on this feature won't be revealed until August.

An all-new version of The City will be coming to NBA 2K22, at least on current-gen consoles, and along with it comes an overhaul of MyCAREER, which will be integrated alongside The City into one narrative experience. More quests and NPCs, side careers such as hip-hop, and quicker online matchmaking are all among the elements being introduced to NBA 2K22's City. Players on other consoles will be returning to The Neighborhood in an updated manner, as well. The Neighborhood in NBA 2K22 is set aboard a sailing cruise ship, docking periodically throughout the game's Season to allow for participation in Events. Regardless of which console fans are playing on, there will be plenty of new content in store for NBA 2K22 players.
