NBA 2K22 is set to launch on September 10. The team at Visual Concepts has had a year to get comfortable with the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and it seems there may be some big changes in store. Those changes will be felt all over the game as 2K looks to extend its grip on the simulation basketball market.

The most notable addition coming is familiar to MyTEAM players. That mode has had Seasons for a bit now, but 2K is expanding on it even more. Now, MyCAREER and The W fans will also be able to join in on the fun with new content introduced each season. Expect to see cosmetics and much more brought to those modes with the development team seemingly pushing for engagement across all of NBA 2K22's many modes.

MyTEAM is also seeing the return of a Draft mode. This fan favorite has been missing in action for some time, so seeing it make a comeback is big news for those who've marked its absence. In Draft, players will be able to select their complete lineup from a rotating pool of players, then they can take that team and use it to compete in multiplayer matches. On top of that, 2K has plans to introduce a new game mode during the holiday season.

What Does NBA 2K22 Bring To The Table

NBA 2K22 PS5 Xbox The City Hip Hop Career Neighborhood Cruise

Outside of MyTEAM, 2K is revamping The City and The Neighborhood in MyPLAYER. The new version of The City should feel much more fleshed out, with new NPC characters and challenges. Meanwhile, The Neighborhood is taking a cruise ship to the high seas and sailing around the world. These additions should help both current and last-gen players feel like there is plenty to do when hopping into MyPLAYER side of the game, despite differences between the two.

2K is also giving some attention to MyCAREER players. In the revamped mode, players will go beyond the hardwood and explore their player's full career. That means opportunities to become a rap mogul or a fashion icon. While not related to the on-court gameplay, it will give players more control over their career and replicates parts of the real-world NBA experience.

Finally, 2K is promising gameplay changes to NBA 2K22. It hasn't given a full picture of these changes and additions yet, but 2K.com confirms that these will include new signature moves and combos, a revamped shot contest and blocking system, and cross-gen progress and collection. More details about gameplay changes will likely come out as the official launch gets closer, but if the team at Visual Concepts can pair that with great gameplay, NBA 2K22 could be a big step forward for the franchise.
