Disney+’s new show based on National Treasure has found five more cast members for their upcoming adventure-mystery. The original movie and its sequel, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, both starred Nicolas Cage as historian Benjamin Franklin Gates. While fans have been waiting patiently for over a decade for news of a third movie, Disney seemingly shifted course when they announced a series to continue the franchise in a new light. National Treasure, which will come straight to Disney+, is set to follow Jess Morales (played by Lisette Alexis); a 20 year old Latina explorer in search of her family history. Jess’ adventure alongside friends leads her to recover long lost treasure. Original film producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, serves as an executive producer on the new show, while original screenwriting duo, Cormac and Marianne Wibberley, return to pen the series.

Now, Deadline reports that alongside Alexis, five other supporting characters have been cast. Parenthood’s Lyndon Smith will play FBI Agent Ross, who joins the adventure to prove herself to her superiors. Zuri Reed joins the cast as Jess’ high school best friend, Tasha. Lady Bird’s Jordan Rodrigues is set to play Ethan, Jess’ longtime friend and admirer. Antonio Cipriano will play knowledgable but goofy theorist Oren, while Stargirl’s Jake Austin Walker rounds out the ensemble as broody musician Liam, who comes from a long line of treasure hunters.

The young, talented cast will bring the Wibberleys' new drama to life. For now, it’s unclear how loosely connected the series will be to the original films, or whether audiences could see Cage’s Gates return one more time. However, fans can see more of the new, youthful adventure series when National Treasure comes to Disney+ sometime in the near future.
