The dark nature of Naruto Uzumaki's chief frenemy / rival Sasuke Uchiha is displayed in a new fan art portrait, covering Sasuke's teenage years as a disciple of the insidious Orochimaru. The lone survivor of the Uchiha Clan, a young Sasuke Uchiha would find himself driven by a need for vengeance against his clan's slayer, his own brother Itachi. While running into each other as young children, Naruto and Sasuke became intimately tied as ninja students in training, becoming sworn rivals. While Naruto's ninjitsu skills advanced at a steady pace, Sasuke was a natural talent out of the gate. Bringing Itachi to his own brand of justice fueled Sasuke in his early years as a ninja, swearing to avenge his clan by any means necessary, which meant turning to some unsavory parties. Unsatisfied with his current power set, Sasuke departs his own home village for the aid of former Konoha prodigy and rogue ninja, Naruto villain Orochimaru. During Sasuke's extended period as a disciple of Orochimaru, the ninja would become even more powerful, gaining a reputation as one of the strongest ninjas of his age.Related: Naruto's Sasuke Sequel is Missing its Chance to Fix Manga's Worst CoupleFrom the Twitter account of @click_ burgundy (はんくり / hungry_ clicker), comes new fan art featuring Sasuke during his formative years as a rogue ninja. The art showcases a teenage Sasuke in his prime state of anger and hatred. Attentive fans can see the immediate influence Orochimaru has on Sasuke, down to his Sound Ninja attire. It's a serious contrast to Sasuke's traditional garb worn during his time as a shinobi for the Hidden Leaf Village. The real star of the piece though are Sasuke's eyes. The conflicted ninja has some of the most famous eyes within the Naruto universe, housing not only the god-tier Sharingan, but the legendary Kekkei Genkai known as the Rinnegan. All of this is topped off with a crackling display of his signature jutsu, the devastating Chidori.

Sasuke Never Lost His Edge

Despite the character's arc with Itahci reaching a natural (and tragic) conclusion, Sasuke would never quite lose his dramatic nature, Even though the character has begun to show a softer side as an adult and father, Sasuke maintains that hard edge that defined the character for several years. As an experienced ninja, Sasuke would not be where without the teachings of several Hidden Leaf ninja alongside Orochimaru who have helped place Sasuke on his current path.

With Sasuke's story continuing to be told in the pages of Boruto and his own manga spinoff titles, it's fun to look back on the life of Sasuke's accomplishments as a growing ninja. Until Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto either retires or kills the character, Sasuke will only continue to advance well past anything Orochimaru or the Leaf Village could ever offer.
