Naruto was one of those shows that produced a massive amount of memes…and really, who can blame the fans for showing their love through the art of mockery? The characters were iconic, but also had strong enough quirks to warrant some teasing from time to time. However, some memes will make more sense to the fans, than others.

And then there are the memes that’ll crack up somebody who’s seen (or read) the whole series. You know the ones, where it’s almost like they are an inside joke?

Here are ten of our favorite Naruto memes, hope you enjoy them as much as we did!

Reading Erotic Novels In Public

Oh, Kakashi. Whenever he’s on the screen, you can basically assume that one of Jiraiya’s Paradise novels isn’t too far behind. We’re all painfully aware of how much Kakashi adores these novels. Worse, we have a pretty good guess at what is inside them. While we may not know the core plot or anything like that…we do know Jiraiya and his tendencies.

Comparing Kakashi and his reading preferences to those reading 50 Shades of Gray (in public)…do we even need to explain this one? The comparison is hilarious, for if no other reason than the different ways both instances are treated by the public.

Hey, I Just Met You

Back when ‘Call Me Maybe’ first came out, there were thousands of memes and jokes (okay that might be a slight exaggeration) that came out based on the hit song. Some of these jokes were funnier than others, of course.

One of the funniest pairings had to be putting the quote alongside a moment that happened early on in the Naruto series. We are, of course, talking about Haku and the confusion his dressing preferences created. And no, we’re not just talking about how Naruto got confused.

When They Think You’re Food

This one might be a wee bit harsh…but it’s still pretty funny. Tonton is one of those characters that the fans either loved or hated. Her reactions to the events happening around her were sometimes a little much but, in this instance, her image is being used to bring up a fair point.

Sakura, especially the Sakura from earlier in the series was…well…useless. She spent more time whining and pining than she did actually trying to become a competent ninja. The wasted time definitely showed. This is a complaint that isn’t new to the fans. In fact, it’s one you’ll hear with frequency.

Fillers

Okay, so anybody that has watched a long-running anime will absolutely get this joke. Fillers are the bane of our existence, after all. For those not in the know; fillers are, as the name indicates, filler episodes.

Meaning that they’re not pulled directly from the manga (and thus not written by the same people). They’re usually pretty awful. Naruto’s filler, in particular, is infamous for lasting way too long and nearly derailed the anime's momentum, requiring the series to reboot itself with a new name. Having filler that not even Naruto's hero can comprehend, let alone the fans.

Student Teacher Reunions

Naruto has some of the most brutal (and satisfying) fight scenes out there. They also have a way of making so many of their characters well known and liked. Unfortunately, that means that sometimes the characters we like tend to get pitted against each other. Add that with the tendency for mentors and students to meet up and well…let’s just say that some of these moments are the most brutal in the series.

Most of the scenes depicted above don’t need to be explained. They were brilliant fights, full of emotion and backstory. Some of these scenes were so amazingly satisfying, while others were heartbreaking.

Today’s the Day

Sorry Sakura, we don’t mean to hate on you. Now, to be fair, you were pretty useless. Actually, as mentioned above, Sakura was more than a little bit useless. She was annoying and shallow, and while she did push the plot forward in some ways (like demanding that Naruto rescues Sasuke, although he probably would have tried anyway), for the most part, she was a frustrating character to watch.

Sakura did make some improvements during the later seasons, of course. Once the complaints started reaching a certain level. However, she was never quite on the same level as the rest of her classmates, even with the abilities given to her.

Kakashi’s Mangekyou

Remember the jokes and commercials about cinnamon toast crunch? Naruto remembers. Seriously, this is one of the most inane and hilarious memes out there. The real question is, will the copycat ninja figure out a way to steal the secret recipe?

So next time you open up a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, think of Naruto and ask yourself: Could Kakashi see what makes Cinnamon Toast Crunch so great? If the answer is yes, then this is one answer Boruto: Naruto Next Generations needs to eventually answer.

I Got 99 Problems

Sasuke. Sasuke. Sasuke. Everything’s about Sasuke. At least when it comes to Naruto’s problems, that seems to be the case. Naruto has got to be one of the most loyal characters out there. Combine that with his determination and it’s really no wonder that he refused to give up on Sasuke.

Unfortunately, that determination put Naruto through a lot of pain and trouble, and that’s putting it mildly. But at least, now that it’s all over, we can joke about it. Right?

When Memes Collide!

Isn’t it great when you can combine your favorite fandom with a popular meme? In this instance, we’ve got the popular Arthur meme and, of course, Naruto. This one is a fun commentary on Naruto’s aspirations and the way he’s been beaten down so much.

Of course, let’s not forget all of the implications from the Arthur meme. They fit oddly well together, don’t they? Is Arthur really just a precursor to Naruto? Do they exist in the same universe?

Breathes Fire

We’ve got to admit, this meme makes a valid point. Naruto’s face simply enhances this realization, does it not? But one does have to wonder: How does Kakashi do it? Is he able to remove and replace the mask before we have time to notice? Or, is the mask flame retardant? Or, is it magic? Kakashi magic, that is!

No matter how you look at it, you’ve got to admit that this meme is worth a chuckle. Especially considering the long-standing question of what Kakashi actually looks like underneath that mask.
