Fans were given a brief glimpse of the Arrowverse's next superhero, Naomi, during a clip from DC FanDome 2021 that also featured a welcome cameo from the Man of Steel himself. Created by Brian Bendis, David F. Walker and Jamal Campbell, Naomi's budding superhero career is advancing faster than a speeding bullet. She only made her comic book debut in 2019, and two years later The CW is working on a TV show to bring her into the Arrowverse.

Naomi stars Army Wives actor Kaci Walfall in the title role, and at DC FanDome Warner Bros. showed off a clip from the character's origin story via a new teaser trailer. The scene shows Naomi bolting out of school in the hopes of seeing Superman attend to an incident in her city. In the comics, Naomi becomes fascinated by Superman after finding out he was adopted, and her own experience with the adoption system lead her to relate strongly to the Man of Steel. This near-encounter with Superman acts as the inciting incident in the young hero's still-unfolding journey, as she began to question her own origins and discovers the shocking truth that she came from another dimension.

The Last Son of Krypton doesn't fully appear in the teaser trailer outside of a quick red-and-blue blur in the sky, but because this is the Arrowverse it's reasonable to assume he's supposed to be the version of Superman played by Tyler Hoechlin. In the first Naomi comic book miniseries, there's something of a running gag that the future hero keeps missing Superman. During one instance, he makes quite a mess fighting a supervillain, then turns up the next day to help clean up the mess—and again Naomi misses him. It would be entertaining to see this theme repeat.

The interesting question, though, is whether Hoechlin himself will wind up playing an important role in the Naomi series. In the comics, the titular character learns she is a refugee from a dystopian parallel dimension, and a brush with exotic material from her home Earth leads to her phenomenal powers being triggered. Her initial, understandable reaction is to seek out Superman for help, and she winds up becoming a young member of the Justice League.

The Naomi clips have suggested this is a remarkably comic-book-accurate adaptation, so it really wouldn't be a surprise to see the Tyler Hoechlin from Superman & Lois—or perhaps his super-powered teenage son Jordan Kent (Alex Garfin)—become a recurring guest star from time to time. As well as introducing viewers to a great new comic book hero, Naomi could also help to draw all the various Arrowverse threads together in the wake of the franchise's flagship series Arrow coming to an end in 2020, potentially setting up a few more team-ups and even some possible Arrowverse Justice League adventures as well.
