The CW has added six new cast members, including Barry Watson and Aidan Gemme, to its DC drama pilot Naomi. Based on the 2019 DC Comics character created by Brian Michael Bendis, David F. Walker, and Jamal Campbell, Naomi comes from prolific TV and movie producer Ava DuVernay and Arrow EP Jill Blankenship. The show began development in December, but the Naomi pilot wasn't officially ordered at The CW until February. Recently, several talented performers were added to the series' main cast, including Army Wives actress Kaci Walfall, who was finalized for the titular role. Now, the show has rounded out its roster, bringing a few more stars into the fold.

As reported by Variety, Naomi has added six new members: Watson (7th Heaven), Mouzam Makkar (Champions), Mary-Charles Jones (Hannah Montana), Gemme (Dora the Explorer), Daniel Puig (The System), and Will Meyers (Gotham). Additionally, Ozark and Queen Sugar's Amanda Marsalis has also been brought on board to direct and co-executive produce the Naomi pilot. Below you can read the character descriptions for each of the new cast members:

Watson plays Greg, Naomi’s adoptive father and military vet who is happily married to Jennifer and sees Naomi as the “perfect daughter.”

Makkar's Jennifer is Naomi’s adoptive mother who teaches linguistics at the town military base and dotes on her bright and gifted daughter.

Jones portrays Annabell, Naomi’s “fiercely loyal classmate and best friend who is unafraid of telling Naomi hard truths,” and supports her friend’s quest for answers about a recent mysterious event

Gemme is Jacob, the sweet, shy, slightly nerdy boyfriend of Annabelle who treats her like a queen.

Puig appears as Nathan, a high school jock who briefly dated Naomi before she ended things.

Meyers portrays Anthony, a proud “townie” who has a crush on Naomi and will do anything to help her on her journey.

With several new and skilled actors joining Naomi's diverse roster of characters, the show seems to be shaping up into a major game-changer for The CW. Of particular note, Watson and Makkar have already made names for themselves on The CW—Watson as Matt Camden in 7th Heaven and Makkar as Alexandria St. John in The Vampire Diaries. As for the less established cast members, they'll likely imbue Naomi with fresh energy, capturing the attention of a younger demographic, who are the network's primary audience. So far, all of Naomi's casting announcements have been pretty exciting and have made viewers eager to catch all of these characters in action. Hopefully, Naomi makes its way to the small screen soon.
