Warning: The following article contains spoilers from Nancy Drew season 4, episode 1.

Nancy Drew season 4 is finally here — and there are already plenty of mysteries plaguing Horseshoe Bay and the Drew Crew in their final episodes. Season 4 will serve as the series' last outing, and after the premiere, it promises to end the CW show on a high note. There are star-crossed romances, a new police chief (of course), the walking dead, new love interests, and a missing ferret. What more could fans want from a final season?

After watching the past three seasons, it's clear that the Nancy Drew writers know what they're doing. They excel at crafting thrilling storylines and mysteries that take plenty of shocking twists and turns (Dead Lucy being Nancy's birth mother, the Wraith attaching itself to Nancy, etc.), and season 4 will likely be no different. Following the Nancy Drew season 4 premiere, there are at least six mysteries that the show will need to address before the series comes to a close.

6 Why Are The Missing Bodies Running Amok In Horseshoe Bay?

It wouldn't be Nancy Drew without a season-long supernatural mystery that the Drew Crew needs to solve. Nancy opened her own investigative agency at the end of the season 3 finale, and her first call was about dug-up graves in the local cemetery. When she arrived (clad in her iconic black beanie), the bodies were missing. Unfortunately, when season 4 opened, it had been five weeks since Nancy's journey to the cemetery, and she had found no leads.

The Horseshoe Bay police, on the other hand, zeroed in on Ace as their prime suspect. Thankfully, Nancy and the rest of the Drew Crew cleared his name after they discovered that the missing bodies had dug their own graves, were walking around the town at night, and meeting at the sight where Horseshoe Bay was founded. When Nancy, Ace, Nick, Bess, and the new police chief, Lovett, encountered the zombies, they puked a black substance, which later found its way into the city's water supply.

Whatever is happening with the missing (now found) bodies will serve as a season-long mystery. After the premiere, it's unclear what (or who) caused the dead to reanimate, but the Drew Crew will undoubtedly unravel more clues as the final episodes continue. Plus, the audience still has to discover who the mystery caller is from the Nancy Drew season 3 finale and how they are connected to the zombies.

5 What Are The Glasses Planning In Nancy Drew Season 4?

Shelby and Jonas Glass appear in the Nancy Drew season 4 premiere.

Nancy Drew season 3, episode 13 first introduced Shelby and Jonas Glass when Ryan went to their house to borrow a hatchet that could kill witches. But the Glasses are a family that shouldn't be messed with, and Ryan didn't know it at the time, but he was making a deal with the devil. So when season 4 opened, Ryan arranged a meeting between the Glasses and Bess, who is now the keeper of the Horseshoe Bay Historical Society.

The couple offered to put a price tag on all the supernatural objects, and it's inferred that they wanted to help Bess sell some of the items on the black market. She declined their "generous" proposal, which infuriated them. Shelby and Jonas retaliated by messing with Ryan's car, leading to Ryan and Bess getting into a car accident later in the episode. The Glasses are much more dangerous than previously thought, and their reign of terror is far from over. Shelby and Jonas won't be easy to get rid of in Nancy Drew season 4, especially after the surprising revelation that they had a son.

4 Is Tristan Evil Like His Parents?

Tristan wears a brown sweater in the Nancy Drew season 4 premiere.

Tristan was introduced as The Claw's new lobster provider during Nancy Drew season 4, episode 1, and his heart eyes for Nancy were evident from the moment he walked inside the restaurant. Nancy and Tristan had another run-in later in the hour, but while he flirted with her, she was still hung up on Ace. However, the real shocker came when Nancy went to confront the Glasses for trying to kill her father, and Tristan answered the door.

Tristan is Shelby and Jonas's son, which is bound to complicate things since the show is seemingly setting him up to be Nancy's new love interest. If Nancy and Ace can't break their curse, Nancy may want to pursue a relationship with Tristan, much to the dismay of Nace shippers and Ryan. However, if Tristan is evil like his parents, Nancy will want to run for the hills as soon as possible. So far, he seems like a nice guy in Nancy Drew season 4, but first impressions can be wrong.

3 Will Nick & George Find Their Way Back To One Another?

George and Nick talk during the Nancy Drew season 4 premiere.

Nancy Drew season 4's theme might be heartbreak because while Nancy and Ace are cursed and unable to be together, Nick and George are also separated (at least, for now). Nick and George got engaged during the season 3 premiere, but when George split her soul from Odette's, everything changed. They broke up later in the season because they wanted to grow as individuals without being too dependent on one another, and when season 4 premiered, they still held onto that belief.

George even encouraged Nick to try online dating since plenty of women are dying to be with him. Meanwhile, George is focused on furthering her career as a lawyer, with Carson as her mentor. They are both on different paths in Nancy Drew season 4, but the hope is that, by the end, they will merge once more. It's just going to take some time before Nick and George are ready to be a couple again.

2 Will Nancy & Ace Break Their Curse In Nancy Drew Season 4?

Nancy and Ace sit on a bed in Nancy Drew season 4, episode 2.

Nancy and Ace became a fan-favorite couple at the end of Nancy Drew season 1, and the writers have been developing a slow-burn romance between them ever since. Just when it looked like Nancy and Ace were ready to take the next step in their relationship, Temperance Hudson created a curse that prohibited them from ever being a couple during the season 3 finale. If they were to act on their feelings, Ace would die, and Nancy was determined not to let that happen.

In the season 4 premiere, Nancy continued denying her love for Ace. But he later found out that she wrote his name down and put the piece of paper in a bottle (a Horseshoe Bay lovers ritual), and he knew that she was lying. Finally, Nancy came clean about the curse, and now she and Ace must work together to break it if they want to be together. However, viewers have no idea if or when they can break the curse. Nancy Drew fans might have to wait until the series finale to see Nancy and Ace together (for real).

1 Where Is Chunky Velez The Ferret?

Kennedy McMann as Nancy Drew in the season 4 extended trailer

Now, onto the real mystery of Nancy Drew season 4 — where is Chunky Velez? As fans learned in episode 1, Nancy has had to take on some low-profile cases to pay the bills at Icarus Hall. Her most recent one includes a missing ferret named Chunky that belongs to the Velez family.

The show might just be using Chunky as a punchline, but this wouldn't be the first time the writers used an animal to further the story (no one could forget Kegstand, the cat). Nancy hasn't found Chunky yet, so the missing ferret may be tied to the missing bodies. Whatever the case, Chunky is bound to make an appearance in Nancy Drew season 4 one way or another.
