Phase 4 of the MCU will continue with the highly anticipated Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The film will feature Namor, aka the Sub-Mariner, adapting the character for the big screen and portraying him as the story's villain.

In Marvel Comics, Namor is an antihero who has frequently acted as an enemy of the Fantastic Four, but he also has assumed the hero role many times. Namor is one of the most powerful characters in the Marvel canon, so his enemies are no laughing matter, and fans on Ranker have sorted them to determine who are Namor's greatest foes.

Note: Ranker lists are fan-voted, live, and continue to accrue votes, so some rankings may have changed after this publishing.

Doctor Dorcas

Doctor Lorcas wearing a mask in Marvel comics.

Lemuel Dorcas is far from being one of Marvel's most memorable or menacing villains, but he is a worthy foe on occasion. He is a marine biologist and inventor who often experimented on human subjects, granting them superhuman abilities and using them in his world-domination schemes.

Doctor Dorcas is best known for acting as a puppet master, manipulating events behind the scenes to inflict damage on Namor. Indeed, he contributed to the creation of several other Namor villains, mainly Tiger Shark, Orka, and Piranha. Dorcas usually allied with other, more powerful characters, including the warlord Krang and Namor's cousin, Byrrah.

Doctor Doom

Doctor Doom is arguably the most iconic supervillain in Marvel, one of the most powerful magic users in comics, and Reed Richards' archenemy. Born Victor Von Doom, he is the king of Latveria and is among Marvel's most intelligent beings.

Doom and Namor have a contentious relationship, although they have cooperated several times. However, Doom's schemes are often dangerous to the world, forcing Namor to stand opposite him, often allying with heroes like Black Panther to deal with the Doom threat.

Piranha

Piranha roaring in anger in the comics,

Dr. Lemuel Dorcas is behind Piranha's creation. The creature evolved from a normal fish into a grotesque and flesh-eating fish/human hybrid after Dorcas exposed it to radiation. Piranha possesses enough intelligence to plan and execute elaborate schemes, but he often behaves savagely and brutishly.

The original Piranha died during a fight against Namor after being devoured by other piranhas. However, those piranhas evolved into new and identical versions of the original. Piranha is noteworthy for flying and coming back multiple times, acting more like a nuisance for Namor than a genuinely threatening villain.

Byrrah

Byrrah in Marvel Comics.

Family drama is a prominent part of comic book history. Indeed, Marvel Comics has its fair share of sibling rivalry. However, other members of a character's extended family can also be troublesome. Case in point, Byrrah, Namor's cousin and a challenger to the throne of Atlantis.

Like Aquaman and Ocean Master, Byrrah and Namor constantly clash because the former dislikes the latter's half-breed status. Byrrah considers Namor unworthy of ruling Atlantis and often launches attacks against him, attempting to secure the Atlantis throne. It's a classic tale of a pretender trying to steal a king, but it remains exciting nonetheless.

Llyron

Llyron frowning in Marvel Comics.

Llyron is one of the most obscure villains in Marvel Comics. He is Namor's grand-nephew, a mostly level-headed man whose conflicts with Namor stem from other people's interests rather than a sense of genuine animosity between them.

Like Namor, Llyron's main interest is the Atlantean people. He acts as an ambassador to the UN and even gets Atlantis accepted into the organization. He becomes radicalized later and leads an Atlantean military group known as the Fathom Five, becoming a full-blown villain. The change is somewhat jarring, considering his previous characterization.

Llyra

Namor battling Llyra in Marvel comics.

Llyra is Llyron's mother, a mutant capable of controlling sea life. She comes from the kingdom of Lemuria and often tries to conquer it, putting her in direct conflict with Namor, an ally of King Karthon.

Llyra's attempts against Namor are more sneaky than other villains'. She once disguised as his lover and tried to trick Namor on his wedding day and even tried to seduce him to give birth to his child and use it as leverage against him. Llyra has also allied with other Namor villains, mainly Tiger Shark and Byrrah, but their plans always fall apart. Llyra is a schizophrenic, and her condition leads to her abrupt and murderous impulses.

Orka

Orka roaring in rage in Marvel Comics.

The epitome of brawn over brains, Orka is one of the physically strongest Atlanteans, but he's also somewhat dimwitted. Orka is the result of Doctor Dorcas' experiments, a combination between an Atlantean and a killer whale.

Because of his limited intelligence, Orka is not an outright villain. Instead, he works for the best bitter, leading him to become part of many antiheroic organizations. Orka was part of the Heroes for Hire, one of the coolest forgotten teams in Marvel, and he even became a member of Namor's personal guard, the Defenders of the Deep. Orka was a worthy foe for Namor, but he was always a valuable ally.

Krang

Krang about to attack in Marvel Comics.

The warlord Krang is a high-ranking member of the Atlantean military and one of Namor's greatest foes. Their rivalry stems from Lady Normar's choice to leave Krang for Namor and the Submariner's choice to save Sue Storm during Atlantis' attack on New York City.

Krang is a proud Atlantean who feels like Namor betrayed his people. A brilliant military leader and tactician, Krang is a genuine threat to Namor's rule, and the Submariner knows it. The warlord later becomes an antihero, much like Namor himself, and even becomes part of the Defenders.

Tiger Shark

TIger Shark fights Namor in Marvel Comics

Todd Arliss is a former proud Olympic swimmer who suffers an accident while attempting to rescue a drowning man. He volunteers for one of Doctor Dorcs' experiments and becomes imbued with DNA from a tiger shark and Namor the Submariner himself.

Throughout his comic book history, Tiger Shark has allied with many other villains, including Llyra, Orka, and Krang and fought numerous other Marvel heroes, including Wolverine, She-Hulk, and even the Avengers. He is infamous for his savage and predatory nature.

Attuma

Attuma Namor Marvel Comics

Attuma is arguably Namor's archenemy. He is a member of a tribe exiled from Atlantis who rises to become its leader. Believing himself Atlantis's rightful ruler and savior, he launches an attack on the kingdom. Namor must ally with the Fantastic Four to defeat him, although the loss only empowers Attuma's anger.

Some of the best Namor storylines in the comics feature Attuma as either the main antagonist or a major player. Attuma is also the father of the superhero Andromeda, although their relationship becomes strained. Like Namor, Attuma will make his live-action debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
