Mythic Quest is debuting a new standalone episode with special guest star Anthony Hopkins. The Apple TV+ workplace comedy centers on a video game studio that produces the largest multiplayer game of all time. Rob McElhenney leads the show as Ian, the studio's eclectic game creator and creative director. He created the series with two of his Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia pals: co-star Charlie Day and writer Megan Ganz. Season 1 of the show earned acclaim among both fans and critics.
Apple announced that Mythic Quest is adding a new half-hour episode to the already-completed season one. "Everlight" will go live on the streaming service on Friday, April 16, ahead of the show's official season 2 premiere in May. The special episode pits the lovable Mythic Quest gang against a new and very timely issue currently faced by many around the world: the return to offices and co-workers after working from home. The fictional creative team goes back to in-person work life just in time for their annual Everlight party. The series regulars will be joined by a very high-profile guest star for the additional show.
Academy Award-winner Sir Anthony Hopkins (“Silence of the Lambs,” “The Father”) lends his famous voice to the episode. This marks Hopkins' first television gig since his recurring appearance on HBO's Westworld from 2016-2018. The lauded performer's appearance comes after the Apple show's first bonus episode Mythic Quest: Quarantine. Hailed by critics as being one of the best episodes of TV produced during the pandemic, the one-off documented Ian and his cohorts in quarantine.
The surprise episode will no doubt hold fans over until the highly-anticipated season 2 premiere of Mythic Quest on Friday, May 7. At the start of the sophomore season, most of the group will be back in the office attempting to build upon the success of their epic game Raven's Banquet with a new expansion pack. Of course, they'll have to navigate hilarious roadblocks as they pop up along the way and will even encounter a guest appearance from the one and only Snoop Dog.
