It's rare that a TV show comes along that has a great cast, a fascinating premise, and a twist as well. Good Girls has all of these things, and it seems that everyone agrees that it's a solid show as it was recently renewed for a third season.
Mae Whitman, Christina Hendricks, and Retta star as three friends who find themselves in some money trouble. Since they're all moms, they want to be able to give their families everything, and they need to do something... and fast. If they simply got jobs, that wouldn't make for great TV. But since they decide to rob a grocery store, well, that changes things and makes this such a fascinating series.
Let's take a look at the MBTIs of the characters on Good Girls.
Rio: ENTJ
Manny Montana plays Rio, one of the most important characters on Good Girls. At first, the three main characters think that they can rob the store and that will be it, but unfortunately, they become involved with a criminal named Rio.
Rio's a tricky character when it comes to figuring out MBTIs, but if he has one, it would most likely be ENTJ or "Decisive Strategist." Rio sounds like the description: "They like to organize people and resources efficiently in order to accomplish long-term goals and tend to be comfortable with taking leadership roles over others." Rio's definitely the boss, and he makes sure that he's always got an eye on everyone who is working for him. He's also "tough" and "strategic."
Sadie Marks: ENTP
Isaiah Stannard plays Annie's child Sadie, who is very comfortable being exactly who they are. Since ENTPs or "Enterprising Explorers" are described as being "curious" and "outspoken" and they also "encourage independence," Sadie's MBTI would be ENTP.
Sadie says that he is trans in a scene that is critically praised for its warmth and heart. Annie is a wonderful mother with a wonderful child, and it's really great to watch them together.
Nancy: ISTP
Watching your ex with someone else is always going to be awkward. In Annie's case, her ex and the father of her child is a guy named Gregg who is now married to Nancy (Sally Pressman), a picture-perfect woman.
Nancy has a spa and cares a lot about having a flawless business and marriage, along with a spotless house. Her MBTI would be ISTP or "Logical Pragmatist." ISTPs don't like "inefficiency" or "noise" which sounds like this character. Nancy is so different from Annie, who is fun and vibrant. Compared to Annie, Nancy is incredibly boring.
Boomer: ENTJ
David Hornsby plays Boomer, Annie's manager at the grocery store where she works... aka the store that the three women choose to rob. Unfortunately for them, Boomer figures out that it was Annie, and he's got his eye on her.
Like Rio, Boomer is an ENTJ. He knows what he wants and he definitely loves being in charge of everyone at the store. He's a "take charge" kind of person and he's also "tough when necessary." Boomer doesn't share any of the positive qualities that ENTJs have since he's a really bad guy, but he does seem to "see the big picture" since he wants Annie to pay for what she did.
Stan Hill: ISFJ
Reno Wilson plays Stan, the lovely husband of Ruby who wants nothing more than for his wife and kids to be happy and healthy.
Stan's MTBI is ISTJ or "Practical Helper." As the description says, "They are responsible, loyal, and traditional and enjoy serving the needs of others and providing practical assistance." Sure, Stan and Ruby have some marital strife which would happen to any couple when one of them was stealing money... but they are all about their family life, and they're there for each other.
Gregg: ISTJ
Zach Gilford plays Gregg, Annie's ex and the father of her child. He wants full custody of Sadie which is so heartbreaking to watch, and he doesn't seem to understand that she's providing a much better, more compassionate home for their child.
He's pretty strict and rigid, and he doesn't really listen to anyone else's POV. He's in a new and boring marriage and seems like he has been totally taken over by Nancy. His MTBI would be ISTJ or "Responsible Realist." He's a low-key guy who "values traditions" and is also very "detached." When talking to Annie, he doesn't get emotional at all and doesn't seem like he gets her as a person.
Dean Boland: ISFP
Beth's husband Dean (Matthew Lillard) is the instigator for the robbery as he cheats on her and she realizes that her fairy tale family universe is completely over. This makes viewers see that he's pretty pathetic and she's the strong one in the marriage.
Dean owns his own car dealership and seems like a people person. This would make his MBTI ISFP. He's a "Versatile Supporter" and he is someone who does "enjoy providing practical help or service to others." He is fairly "reserved" as it's clear that he tries to show Beth that he loves her but she doesn't exactly believe him.
Annie Marks: ESFP
Mae Whitman tends to play rebellious characters, like her turn as Amber Holt on the beloved tearjerker Parenthood. On Good Girls, she plays Annie Marks, mom to Sadie and sister of Beth.
Annie's MBTI would be ESFP or "Enthusiastic Improviser." She's a "keen observer" and also really "resourceful." Annie is at her best when defending the people that she loves, like her sister Beth, friend Rudy, and kid Sadie. Her best moment is definitely when she stands up to Boomer, realizes that he's trying to tell on her, and blackmails him. Annie's a really admirable, inspiring character.
Ruby Hill: INTP
Retta plays Ruby Hill who works at a restaurant and is raising two kids with her husband, Stan.
Because Ruby and Stan's daughter is sick and they need money, she's really tough and will do anything to help her. She sounds like the MBTI INTP or "Objective Analyst." The description says that this type will "typically adopt a detached and concise way of analyzing the world" which is Ruby. She's not super emotional even though viewers can tell that this is really hard for her. She knows what she has to do (get some cash and fast) and she's doing it.
Beth Boland: INTJ
Christina Hendricks plays Beth who is also in a pretty bad situation. She learns that her husband has been cheating and she suddenly has to stop being so privileged and take control of her life.
Beth is such a powerful character since she used to live a happy, innocent life taking care of her children and living in a fancy house. Now everything has changed. Her MBTI would be INTJ or "Conceptual Planner." This type "like to devise innovative solutions to complex problems" and Beth has definitely figured out a way to get money for her family (although it's not exactly what she should be doing...). Beth is also "firm" and "deliberate" and "reserved."
