They're all about saving people and hunting things, but how different do fans think the Winchesters really are? Obviously, Sam takes after his mother, and Dean takes after his father, but I do wonder what the results would be if they both sat down and took a Myers-Briggs Personality Test (like Dean would ever agree to that). Many fans have already speculated about Sam and Dean's results, but what about the lesser-known members of the family? How do they all measure up?

Here are the Myers-Briggs personality types for all of the Winchesters on Supernatural.

Sam Winchester: INFJ, Insightful Visionary

According to the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Sam Winchester is a perfect example of an INFJ. Any fan of Supernatural would agree that Sam is the ultimate idealist who sees the good in everyone, including monsters. Unlike his older brother, Sam is quiet, reserved and often feels misunderstood. In true INFJ fashion, Sam often gets a "hunch" about what to do next, which has saved Sam and Dean's lives countless times (you know, until they die again).

Dean Winchester: ESTJ, Efficient Organizer

Unlike his little brother, Dean can be a little harder to accurately type. Although Dean has been classified as an ESTP in the past due to his energy and womanizing ways, it's pretty clear by the end of season three that he's an ESTJ. We all know that Dean would do anything to protect his little brother, including going to Hell, and an ESTJ's main purpose in life is reaching their goal and organizing people and resources in order to achieve it. Dean is also a natural leader, so it's no surprise that ESTJs make up about 21% of leaders globally, the highest percentage for any of the 16 types, while representing only about 9% of the general population.

Mary Winchester: ISFP, Versatile Supporter

According to the MBTI Database,  Mary Winchester is an ISFP. According to the description, people with ISFP preferences enjoy providing practical help or service to others, as well as holding firm to their values when bringing people together and facilitating and encouraging cooperation. That sounds about right. Like Sam, Mary is gentle, sensitive, and caring, but tends to be a little more practical. Mary is also very motivated, but she's driven by her values instead of her goals (unlike Dean).

John Winchester: ESTJ, Efficient Organizer

Like father, like son. Just like Dean, John Winchester is classified as an ESTJ due to his commanding presence and high-handed ways. Remember, ESTJs are motivated by their goals, and John's main goal was always "saving people and hunting things," even if it was at the expense of his own children. Any fan of the show can give a detailed description of all the ways Dean is like his father, so this result should come as a surprise to no one.

Henry Winchester: ISFJ, Practical Helper

Henry Winchester is Sam and Dean's paternal grandfather who escaped from a demon named Abaddon and traveled to the future to help his son, John. After learning of his son's death, Henry devotes himself to helping his two grandsons by telling them about the Men of Letters. ISFJs are described as "responsible, loyal, and traditional and enjoy serving the needs of others and providing practical assistance." Can't get any more practical and loyal than handing Sam and Dean the keys to the Men of Letters bunker!

Adam Winchester: ENTP, Improvising Explorer

Oh, you forgot he existed? So did everyone else, apparently. To refresh your memory, Adam Winchester (or Adam Milligan) is the son of Kate Milligan and John Winchester, which makes him Sam and Dean's younger half-brother. Like Dean, he can be stubborn and inflexible and is loyal to only one person (his mother). ENTPs are good at thinking outside of the box, but will often act on their "solutions" without considering the consequences or the negative effect on others. Which explains how he ended up as Michael's vessel.

Emma Winchester: ESTJ, Efficient Organizer

There isn't much information for this one, considering Emma is only a part of one episode, but she's technically a Winchester so she belongs on the list. Emma was an Amazon conceived by Lydia and Dean during a one-night stand, unbeknownst to Dean. As an Amazon, Emma was sent to kill her father and uncle to complete her initiation, regardless of the fact that they were family. I think we have another ruthlessly goal-oriented ESTJ on our hands!
