Who plays the ferocious lead Yoon Ji-woo in Netflix's latest Korean series My Name? Following the success of Netflix's Squid Game, My Name is about a young woman's quest for vengeance after her father is murdered in front of her. Ji-woo joins a criminal organization to avenge him, eventually going undercover as a cop named Oh Hye-jin to track down the killer responsible.

Partly a crime drama and partly a murder mystery, the most compelling element of My Name is Ji-woo's tenacity, no matter the odds. She never shies away from the obstacles placed before her, training relentlessly to become an unstoppable force capable of enacting her revenge. All the while, a burning rage blazes in her eyes, fueling desperation that allows the ruthless crime boss Choi Mu-jin to trust her.

The person who plays My Name's Ji-woo is a 26-year-old South Korean model and actress Han So-hee. My Name is a big departure for the actress, who is best known for her work in romantic K-drama series. Born Lee So-hee, her acting debut was in the 2016 music video for SHINee's "Tell Me What To Do" and the 2017 video for Jung Yong-hwa's "That Girl." So-hee's first main role was in the Korean TV show Money Flower, for which she was nominated for a Best New Actress award. She appeared in the series 100 Days My Prince the following year. So-hee won several awards for her part in the 2020 show The World Of The Married, about a married man's affair, which became the highest-rated drama in Korean cable TV history. This success greatly enhanced So-hee's fame, bolstered even more by her work in Nevertheless in 2021. That same year, Forbes Korea magazine voted So-hee number 39 out of the top 40 most powerful celebrities in South Korea.

Netflix's My Name was So-hee's first violent thriller. She had no previous experience with intensive action scenes, but that didn't stop her from wanting to be a part of the fighting in the series. So-hee trained hard for the choreography, admitting in an interview (via Hindustan Times) that at first, she was more worried about getting hurt or accidentally hurting others than about making sure the scenes looked real, but viewers watching the finished project could never tell. She is represented by U-ATTO Entertainment and has 5.5 million followers on Instagram.

So-hee's emotional performance as the determined Ji-woo makes Netflix's My Name a compelling series to watch. While her previous TV roles have granted her widespread fame within South Korea, So-hee is not nearly as well-known in the rest of the world. Hopefully, Netflix's international reach can help her receive wider recognition for her talent.
