After almost a decade, the television show My Little Pony recently came to an end. The show was written for a child audience, but teenagers and adults also found appeal in the show through its well-written stories and well-developed characters. The immense popularity of the show allowed for a series of spin-off films and a television show entitled Equestria Girls and a feature-length film to be produced.

Furthermore, the overall show has a 7.6-star rating on IMDb, and the majority of individual episodes were rated with 7 stars or above. A handful of these episodes even received a rating of 9 stars or higher, reaffirming that audiences enjoy the show. With these ratings in mind, here is a look at the ten highest-ranking episodes, according to IMDb.

Lesson Zero (9.0)

In this episode, Twilight Sparkle realizes that it has been a full week since she last sent Princess Celestia, her mentor, a letter regarding a friendship lesson she learned that week. In a panic, she reaches out to her friends to see if she can help them with any problems they may have. None of her friends have problems and do not take her worries seriously, causing Twilight to create friendship problems among other ponies for her to fix.

This episode ended with the whole group learning to take each others' worries seriously, no matter how trivial they seem. The episode showed that Twilight's friends were just as capable of learning to be better friends to each other as Twilight was.

Pinkie Pride (9.1)

In this episode, Weird Al Yankovic guest-stars as Cheese Sandwich, a party pony like Pinkie Pie. He and Pinkie go head to head about planning Rainbow Dash's birthday party, resulting in a "goof-off," in which the two perform elaborate gags for Dash's entertainment. One of Pinkie's performances goes wrong, which makes her realize that she was being prideful.

She makes plans to leave Ponyville, but her friends convince her to stay by telling her she is still a valued friend and that Cheese Sandwich being an equally talented party-planner does not change that. She and Cheese Sandwich plan Dash's party together and part ways as friends.

The Return Of Harmony - Part 2 (9.1)

This episode is the second half of the two-part premiere of season 2 in which Discord, the spirit of chaos and disharmony, wreaks havoc on Equestria, and the Mane 6 set out to stop him. The ending of Part 1 had Discord at an advantage, with the Elements of Harmony missing, and five out of the six being manipulated by Discord, leaving Twilight Sparkle to fight for Equestria by herself.

In this second part, Twilight is able to help her friends break free of Discord's control, find the Elements of Harmony, and ultimately restore harmony to Equestria.

Party Of One (9.1)

This episode starts out with Pinkie Pie throwing a birthday party for her pet alligator, Gummy. The day after, she decides to throw an after-birthday party for Gummy, but the rest of the Mane 6 decline her invitation, with each of them coming up with what is at best a vague excuse.

Pinkie deduces, with some reassurance from Spike who had to play along, that her friends no longer want her to be part of the group, which leaves her dejected. She throws the after-birthday party with inanimate objects as guests. Rainbow Dash stops by and drags her to Sweet Apple Acres, where her friends have thrown her a surprise party for her own birthday, making her feel herself again.

Twilight's Kingdom - Part 2 (9.2)

This episode is the second part of the season four finale in which Twilight Sparkle and her friends must stop the centaur Tirek from taking the princesses' alicorn magic and taking over Equestria. Twilight faces a challenge regarding her core element, magic, like her friends did in part one (see below).

She ends up trading the alicorn magic for the safety of her friends and Discord, earning her the final key to unlock the chest at the Tree of Harmony and stop Tirek. In the end, a tree-like castle grows in Ponyville and Celestia names Twilight the Princess of Friendship.

Amending Fences (9.2)

In this episode, the recently-appointed Princess of Friendship, Twilight Sparkle, realizes that she treated her Canterlot friends poorly and sets out to make amends. Three of them gladly accept Twilight's apology, but the anti-social Moon Dancer is reluctant to accept Twilight's apology.

Twilight then enlists Pinkie Pie to help Moon Dancer by throwing her a party similar to the one Moon Dancer threw and Twilight missed just before moving to Ponyville. With the new party and Twilight's sincere apology, Moon Dancer accepts it and Twilight, Pinkie, and their Canterlot friends party together.

Twilight's Kingdom - Part 1 (9.2)

This episode is the first part of the season four finale where the Mane 6, and the audience, is introduced to Tirek, a centaur who escaped from Tartarus and is draining ponies of their magic. Princesses Celestia, Luna, and Cadence enlist the Mane 6 to stop Tirek with the help of Discord and a magical chest at the base of the Tree of Harmony.

On their mission to unlock the chest, all of the Mane 6 except for Twilight face challenges involving their friendship element and are given a key. Toward the end of the episode, Discord betrays the ponies and joins forces with Tirek for the sake of power.

The Last Problem (9.3)

This episode is the series finale and depicts Twilight Sparkle as the ruler of all Equestria. Like Celestia before her, she runs the School for Gifted Unicorns and has a student, Luster Dawn, who, like Twilight at the very beginning of the series, does not see the point of friendship and feels it gets in the way of her studies.

Twilight tells her the story of her friends helping her with her coronation as Princess of Equestria and how a lot of things went wrong that day. In spite of the many pitfalls, the group decides to remain in touch and establish the Council of Friendship to rule Equestria together. From this story, Luster Dawn learns of the value of friendship and Twilight sends her to Ponyville to make friends there.

A Canterlot Wedding - Part 2 (9.3)

This episode is the second part of the season two finale in which Twilight Sparkle's brother Shining Armor is getting married to her old babysitter, Princess Cadence. However, Cadence acts as if she has turned evil. It is revealed that the Queen of the Changelings has taken her form and kidnapped the real Princess Cadence in order for the Changelings to infiltrate Canterlot and feed off its love.

Twilight also is kidnapped but is able to break herself and Cadence out of the dungeon and stop the wedding. Cadence uses her love and magic to break Shining Armor free from the Changeling Queen's spell, and the two cast the Changelings out and resume their wedding celebration.

The Perfect Pear (9.5)

This episode tells the story of the long-standing feud between the Apple and Pear families and of the romance between Applejack and her siblings' mother Pear Butter and father Bright Mac, and how they met and fell in love in spite of the feud.

Applejack and their siblings learn the story through other ponies who were acquainted with their parents, such as Goldie Delicious, Mrs. Cake, and Mayor Mare. Pear Butter was forced to choose between her family and Bright Mac, ultimately choosing the latter. The two plant an apple seed and a pear seed together which grew into an apple and a pear tree winding around each other. The episode ends with Grand Pear of the Pear family and Granny Smith of the Apple family reconciling and the two families reunited, much like the tree.
