My Hero Academia centers around a school of superpowered students, each with unique and powerful quirks. Although one of My Hero Academia's biggest arguments centers around whether people should be heroes, the students aspire to be Pro-Heroes, adult superheroes, using their impressive quirks to do good. However, some of the series' characters, whether they're students, pros, or villains, come with some pretty weird quirks.

Due to the large volume of characters that appear throughout the series, it makes sense that the creators were forced to get quite creative when inventing new powers. As the show focuses on the typically more powerful quirk-wielding characters, it is unsurprising that the weirder quirks are often left forgotten.

Clean Bubbler

Pro Hero Wash in My Hero Academia

Susugu Mitarai, better know as Pro-Hero Wash, is the holder of the Clean Bubbler quirk. This quirk allows the Laundry Hero to create and control soapy bubbles that he generates from his body. When creating a large enough bubble, Wash can envelop his target, making them float. His quirk also allows him to generate steam, strong enough to keep people afloat in the air.

Despite his less than conventional quirk and appearance as a literal washing machine, Wash actually holds a spot in the top ten Pro-Heros. As the numbereight Hero, his weird quirk seems to have its uses.

Telescopic

Turtle Neck in My Hero Academia

Tatami Nakagame, also known as Turtle Neck is a third-year student at another hero school, Ketsubutsu Academy High School. First making an appearance in the third season, her Telescope quirk allows her to retract her body in on itself, much like a turtle.

While this quirk must be useful in order for her to be accepted onto a hero course, it is hard to see how handy or useful it would be either in combat against villains or in rescuing civilians.

Whole Body Lens

A reporter with cameras all over his body in My Hero Academia

Taneo Tokuda is an anime original character who never appeared in the My Hero manga. A freelance reporter who made an appearance in the fourth season of the anime, Taneo's quirk perfectly matches his profession.

Whole Body Lens is exactly what it sounds like. Allowing him to sprout camera lenses from anywhere on his body, Taneo's quirk also allows him to print off the photographs he takes from his chest. It's definitely for the best that Taneo has a career in journalism and not as a Pro-Hero.

Cemedine

Bondo being lifted by classmates in My Hero Academia

Kojro Bondo, otherwise known as Plamo, is a Class-1B Student at UA, recognizable for his large and distinct appearance. While his character is given less screen time than other members of Class-1B, Bondo is certainly memorable for his character design.

His quirk, Cemedine, essentially turns him into a giant human glue bottle. With seven holes where his face should be, he can spray out large amounts of glue as well as control the speed at which the glue dries. While this quirk could be seen as useful to trap villains, it isn't the most conventional, especially considering his entire head seems to have been replaced by a glue dispenser.

Tongue Tank

Character with the Tongue Tank quirk in My Hero Academia

This uncomfortable looking quirk was only seen briefly in the fourth season of the anime. Facing off against the students who initially failed their Provisional Hero Licensing exams, including Bakugo and Todoroki, this quirk is wielded by an unnamed young student from Masegaki Primary School.

The quirk, known as Tongue Tank, is pretty self-explanatory. Shooting rock-like projectiles, the user is able to turn their tongue into a cannon that extends out of their mouth. A strange quirk for a young child to have.

Whiteline

Character wielding the Whitelines quirk in My Hero Academia

This quirk could not be more self-explanatory as it is the ability to control white lines. But not just any white lines, very specifically painted road lines. The holder of the quirk, Ending, is a villain who appears in the fifth season during the Endeavour Agency Arc.

While Ending wields his quirk better than expected, using the lines as tentacles to bind his targets, this level of efficiency is likely down to the quirk-boosting drug that he uses beforehand. Meaning the quirk that is seen used in the anime is usually even less impressive.

Fiber Master

Another interesting Pro-Hero quirk is definitely Fiber Master, the quirk belonging to one of the more prominent Pros in the series, Tsunagu Hakamda, better known by his Hero name, Best Jeanist.

The current number three Pro-Hero can manipulate not just denim fiber but the fiber of any material (although for some reason it works best with denim materials). This gives Best Jeanist the power to control his own clothes as well as other people's.  Maybe this quirk would seem less strange if they'd given him a different character design. However, no matter the character, turning villains' own clothes against them would still be quite a strange sight for viewers.

Tape

Hanta Sero smiling and pointing up in My Hero Academia

Taping Hero: Cellophane, more commonly known by his real name Hanta Sero, is a member of the focal hero class, Class 1-A at UA. Sero's quirk, Tape, is a mutant type quirk that allows him to project and retract cellophane tape strips from tape dispenser organs located in his elbows.

While this seems to be a useful quirk for hero work, it doesn't detract from the fact that Sero somehow evolved to have literal tape dispensers in his elbows.

Comic

Comicman in My Hero Academia

Another weird quirk used by a member of Class 1-B, this quirk belongs to Manga Fukidashi, otherwise known as Comicman. Fans may remember this interesting quirk from the most recent fifth season during the Joint Training Arc.

Manga's quirk, Comic, while strange, seems to be very effective and versatile. Utilizing onomatopoeia, Manga can materialize words in mid-air by speaking them out loud, similar to Toge Inumaki from Jujutsu Kaisen, but more using sounds than actions. Again, another quirk that might have come across as less strange had this character's entire head and neck not been a speech bubble.

Meatball

Shishikross during a fight on My Hero Academia

By far one of the weirder and most disturbing quirks encountered on the show is Meatball, belonging to a second-year student at another hero school, Shiketsu High School. Appearing in the third season of My Hero, Seiji Shishikura, also known as Shishikross, exhibits his odd quirk during a fight against Bakugo, Kirishima, and Kaminari.

The quirk allows Shishikura to manipulate raw flesh. He can detach, expand and manipulate his own flesh as well as use his signature move of kneading other people's bodies into a ball of flesh, or in other words, he turns people into meatballs - meaning he's probably not a My Hero Academia character fans want to be friends with.
