For the most part, My Hero Academia follows a fixed format where it goes back and forth between the world of pro heroes and the students of class 1-A. Towards the end of each season, it then merges these two worlds, often with a high-octane battle against the villains. That's exactly where the spin-off movie My Hero Academia the Movie 2: Heroes Rising treads a different path.

Only giving us a tiny glimpse of the pro-heroes in its prologue, the movie predominantly focuses on class 1-A. What starts as a safety program on Nabu Island for the young heroes, soon turns into a struggle to survive against Nine—a villain who's almost like a reincarnation of All For One. But being the heroes that they are, UA High School's students wage a war against the villain and his allies, and after many intense battles, they finally come out victorious.

Endeavor Vs. Dabi: Like Father, Like Son

Despite being among the primary villains, Dabi is a fan favorite. And well, Endeavor needs no introduction as he is the current #1 hero. In the opening scene itself, Dabi shows off his overbearing quirk by single-handedly defeating almost all heroes in an intense car chase.

However, soon, Endeavor arrives at the party and gives Dabi a taste of his fiery rage. Being Endeavor's son, Dabi may possess most of his father's abilities, but he still proves to be no match to Endeavor's Prominence Burn. Luckily for Dabi, it was only his decoy who got to face his father's vaporizing attack.

Bakugo Vs. Makihara: You Don't Mess With Bakugo

When the showdown between the young heroes and villains ensues, Todoroki and Kaminari join forces against the merciless Makihara. With what follows, many other heroes, including Bakugo, join the duo in their battle against Makihara's army of mummies. However, none of them are able to overpower the villain.

Using the power of his quirk, Makihara even mummifies Bakugo for a while and makes him his puppet. But being the badass hero that he is, Bakugo breaks free and shows him that it'll take a lot more to defeat him. Raining on him like a thunderstorm, Bakugo defeats all of Makihara's makeshift puppets and yet again, proves that he's far stronger than most of his classmates.

Deku And Bakugo Vs. Nine: The First Loss

Deku never thinks twice before waging a war against villains; even when he knows that he may not be strong enough to defeat them. The same happens when Deku comes face-to-face with Nine. Even after realizing that the supervillain has many different quirks, he refuses to give in and almost dies fighting.

Enters Bakugo, who uses his speed and wit to dodge the many quirks of Nine. However, he, too, ultimately falls to the ground when one of Nine's quirks catches him off-guard. The two beloved heroes suffer from a brutal defeat against Nine when they face him the first time.

Heroes Vs. Villains: And So, It Begins

The heroes are out-quirked by the villains, but they make sure they're not out-witted. Before the villains plan their next attack, the heroes deduce clever strategies to separate all three of them.

With years of training as a team behind them, the young heroes prove that together they're a force to be reckoned with. Once they're able to separate the trio, they prepare themselves for a final showdown by dividing themselves into three groups—one group for each villain.

Mineta, Uraraka, and Hanta Vs. Nine: Outnumbered But Never Out-Quirked

What makes the battle scenes in My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising all-the-more exciting is how each hero's quirk complements the others. This scene, in particular, stands to be an example of that. While Uraraka uses her Zero Gravity quirk to shower Nine with massive rocks, Hanta uses his tapes to get her out when Nine counters her attacks.

The most impressive aspect of this fight is the creativity with which Mineta uses his seemingly useless quirk. Using his grape-like spheres, the non-combat hero binds all the rocks that Uraraka throws at Nine and seals him up.

Tokoyami Vs. Hasaki: Untapped Potential

Tokoyami and Mineta team up against Hasaki. The red-haired villain uses her Medusa-esque quirk to stay one step ahead of the two heroes, but little does she realize that the Jet-Black Hero is yet to reach his full potential.

When one of the blades from Hasaki's hair hits Mineta, Tokoyami unleashes Dark Shadow to its full fury and effortlessly defeats the hair-wielding villain. This battle just shows how powerful even the lower-ranked students of class 1-A can be.

Todoroki, Kirishima, Asui, And Ida Vs. Chimera: Shoto And Red Riot

All seems to be going well for the heroes when they freeze Chimera under a lake. But moments later, the beasty villain breaks free. In a showdown of four against one, Ida uses his speed to distract the Chimera, while Todoroki and Kirishima bombard him with attacks. In the meantime, Asui secretly uses her mucous to paralyze the beast.

Unfortunately, Chimera only evolves to become stronger and that's when it comes down to Red Riot defend Todoroki, while Todoroki freezes him. Adding more heft to this scene is Todoroki's flashback that reminds him of his father's advice and empowers him to freeze Chimera inside-out.

Katsuma's Sacrifice: A Timely Smaasshh!

When all fail under the dominance of the multi-quirked villain, little Katsuma is left with no choice but to surrender. He does so not to give up against the strong villain, but only to save his sister. Although not replete with shock-and-awe battle scenes, this scene becomes memorable because it captures the very essence of being a hero.

Katsuma possesses a quirk that has little to no use in combat, but he still shows sheer heroism; just like Deku once did against All For One. Not to mention, this poignant scene ends with a well-timed "SMAASSHH" when Deku lands a flying kick right on Nine's face before he can steal Katsuma's cell-healing quirk.

Detroit Smash And Howitzer Impact: The Second Loss

The two beloved heroes rise up again and give everything they've got to defeat Nine. But even after going above and beyond the limitations of their quirks, they pale out in front of Nine's godly powers.

While Deku uses One For All to its 100% limit and lands one final Detroit Smash, Bakugo invests all his energy onto a Howitzer Impact. Still, the heroes are unable to get close to the unfathomable power that has dawned upon Nine. As a result, the dynamic duo "Deku X Bakugo" fails again.

What Would All Might Do: An Ultimate Fusion

In the end, it all comes to Deku to decide whether or not he's willing to give up on his identity to win this battle against Nine. He realizes that the only way he can win this is by passing on his One for All to Bakugo. However, that could mean losing his abilities forever. Finding himself at this crossroad, Deku decides to do what All Might would do in a similar situation—he shares his quirk with Bakugo.

With a finishing "Detroit Smash X 2," Bakugo and Deku destroy the nefarious villain and yet again, save the day. They fall to the ground and the world rejoices its freedom from Nine. Luckily for Deku, it isn't "Sayonara One For All" after all.
