One of the most popular anime of the last few years is none other than My Hero Academia. The series is set in a world where people are born with special abilities called quirks. As most of the population possesses these quirks, some of which are very powerful, a hero/villain society begins to form. Due to this necessity to have heroes to combat the villains, hero schools started to open up around the world, with the most prestigious being U.A. High School. The anime follows class 1-A of U.A., showing the students as they learn how to become heroes, and battle against villains and rogues along the way.

But despite the heroics, these U.A. students still manage to make us laugh. This article will rank the funniest members of Class 1-A.

Shoto Todoroki

While Shoto Todoroki is one of the most popular and powerful characters in the show, he is also one of the funniest. This may come as a surprise to some readers due to Todoroki's matter-of-fact attitude and his serious tone, particularly in the earlier seasons.

Most of Todoroki's humor comes from his interactions with other characters. Due to Todoroki's attitude and general demeanor, he is generally unaware of when he is being funny, which makes him hilarious at times.

Ochaco Uraraka

Uraraka is one of the most popular characters on the show and one of the first U.A. High School students we see to try and make friends with Izuku Midoriya. Uraraka's quirk is called Zero Gravity, and this allows her to remove the influence of gravity on any object she touches.

Like Todoroki, Uraraka isn't necessarily funny intentionally throughout the series, but it is her adorable nature that leads to some hilarious situations and conversations.

Tsuyu Asui

Tsuyu has one of the strangest quirks in the series. Essentially, Tsuyu has the powers of a frog, giving her a strong and long tongue, powerful legs, and fast swimming and camouflaging abilities. While frog powers may not immediately appear to be a heroic trait, her abilities are indeed vital in several fights.

Tsuyu's personality is one of the most interesting and hilarious in the whole show. Her frog-like demeanor coupled with her witty lines easily makes her deserving of a place on this list.

Denki Kaminari

Denki Kaminari is an underused character in the series, but when he still always gets a laugh from the viewers. Kaminari's quirk is called Electrification, and it gives him the ability to pull in electric currents and shock anyone who comes near him.

However, most of Kaminari's comedy comes from the overuse of his quirk. If he uses it too much then he short circuits his own brain, causing him to turn dumb for an extended period of time.

Yuga Aoyama

Yuga Aoyama was one of the first high school students introduced in the series. Aoyama's quirk is called Navel Laser, and this allows him to project a powerful laser, obviously, from his navel. The ability to shoot a laser is a very useful and powerful quirk.

However, it is this Navel Laser ability that gives rise to his comedy. If Aoyama overuses his laser, then he gets a terrible stomach ache, which is hilarious. Additionally, his camp character is fantastic in interactions with others.

Izuku Midoriya

The main character of the series, Izuku Midoriya has one of the most powerful quirks in the show as he inherited the One for All quirk from the legendary hero, All Might. Like other characters mentioned in this list, most of Midoriya's humor is entirely unintentional on the part of the character.

One particularly funny aspect of Midoriya's character is his huge fanboy complex over All Might, especially in the first season. Additionally, Midoriya is an uncertain character, and this uncertainty also makes for good comedy when he speaks to other students or heroes.

Eijiro Kirishima

Kirishima, otherwise known as Red Riot, possesses the quirk, Hardening. This allows the character to harden any part of his body, giving Kirishima not only fantastic defensive capabilities, but also incredible offensive abilities that make him a perfectly balanced hero.

Kirishima has a warm and funny personality, with the character being very focused around his own ideas of chivalry and responsibility. However, it is his views on manliness and his boisterous nature that make him so funny.

Minoru Mineta

Mineta Giving A Thumbs Up

While Mineta appears to have one of the worst quirks imaginable due to the fact that his quirk, called Pop Off, simply allows Mineta to grow sticky purple balls on his head that he can then pull off and throw at people. However, this quirk has indeed had its uses.

The humor from the character, comes from his deeply perverted nature. While his actions are horrifying, he is consistently the butt of the joke rather than the facilitator of it.

Tenya Iida

Tenya Iida comes from a long line of superheroes, giving the character both a strong sense of responsibility as well as a strict moral code that is largely based around following rules to the letter. It is because of these character traits that Iida is made the class representative for Class 1-A.

However, it is also these character traits that make Iida so hilarious. His insistence that everyone strictly adhere to certain rules is incredibly funny to see him try and force on other members of Class 1-A.

Katsuki Bakugo

Katsuki Bakugo may be a controversial addition to this list as he spends a lot of his time on the show belittling, bullying, and mocking Izuku Midoriya, acting as Midoriya's childhood bully throughout their time in school together before U.A. High School.

That being said, the rage and anger inside Bakugo are hysterical when he explodes. He takes everything incredibly seriously, acting super competitive with the other students, and seemingly refusing to have fun. Perhaps the peak Bakugo moments came in Season 4, when he and other students had to win the trust of a group of kindergarten kids.
