In the insanely popular anime and manga series, My Hero Academia, the hotheaded hero in training known as Bakugo is a character with a wild costume design that complements his given Quirk well. And now, in a cosplay that sees him succumb to the symbiotic influence of Marvel’s Venom, this My Hero alum gets a visual upgrade that can only be described as epic!
Uploaded on Reddit’s r/cosplay channel, username u/Modern-Synthesis is a cosplayer who only has a few shared looks under his belt at the moment but luckily isn’t showing signs of stopping the hobby anytime soon. Also posting an image showing his awesome Doom cosplay of the Doomslayer Armor set pulled straight from the game, u/Modern-Synthesis’ attention to detail while crafting these unique looks is a sight to see, especially when mashing properties together like this inspired Marvel x My Hero Academia combo.
A short-tempered character that can create explosions at will thanks to his aptly named “Explosion” Quirk (nitroglycerin-esque palm sweat works wonders for the guy), Katsuki Bakugo -- hero name Great Explosion Murder God Dynamight -- is all about using his aggressive and arrogant tendencies to K.O. the bad guys whenever he sees fit. Meanwhile, the similarly characterized Venom is a Marvel anti-hero who can take over any host and “Venomize” them into a version of himself, right away making it clear why u/Modern-Synthesis chose this pairing for this particular cosplay design.
Standing in one of Bakugo’s patented badass poses, u/Modern-Synthesis’ costume immediately comes across as something unique in the cosplay community. By splicing together the best parts of Venom’s iconic look, like his toothy grin and black color scheme, as well as the fashion sense of an all-geared-up Bakugo, u/Modern-Synthesis nails the mix of the two, giving fans of both characters more than enough to satisfy. Also punching up and altering Bakugo’s costume’s color accents, u/Modern-Synthesis gives his suit more weapons than the original has, while going all in on his Venom-like eyes and teeth that look deadly to the touch.
So while there are many Venom and Bakugo cosplays out there, this one takes the cake for combining the two in a truly epic way. In all honesty, Marvel’s Venom would probably take My Hero Academia’s Bakugo as a host if they ever met in person, so until that wishful thinking of a crossover happens, u/Modern-Synthesis has fans of both characters covered!
