Spoilers ahead for My Hero Academia chapter 364!

The relatively unknown hero Edgeshot is attempting to resurrect Bakugo in My Hero Academia by replicating a strangely similar situation from Chainsaw Man involving the Chainsaw Devil Pochita. But does this similarity hint at any unexpected twist coming up in MHA?

The entire premise of Chainsaw Man revolves around the Chainsaw devil Pochita becoming the heart of his human friend Denji, who was savaged in the manga's debut chapter. This selfless move not only saves Denji's life but allows him to transform him into the eponymous devil-hybrid creature, thrusting him into the world of devil hunters under the control of the enigmatic Makima.

In My Hero Academia by mangaka Kohei Horikoshi, Bakugo's heart bursts during his battle against the villain Tomura Shigaraki, undoubtedly killing Bakugo. But in chapter 364, Edgeshot attempts to remedy the injury by improving upon his Thousand Sheet Pierce ultimate move, where he flattens and twists himself into a pointed string to cut off the blood flow of his opponent. Known as Thousand Sheet Pierce - Zenith, this ultimate move will apparently allow Edgeshot to flatten and twist himself in order to knit Bakugo back together, declaring "I will be the boy's heart!"

Edgeshot attempts to become Bakugo's heart in My Hero Academia chapter 364

It's a way of reversing a major character's death without totally ignoring the consequences of his fall, but for that effort to be successful, My Hero Academia has to continue following Chainsaw Man's path by having this merging change Bakugo. This isn't to say that Bakugo's head should grow a massive chainsaw, but for his resurrect not to feel like a cop-out, there does need to be a permanent sign of how close he came to never appearing again. This could be physical or mental, for example by potentially having Edgeshot become a part of Bakugo's personality. This would sully his resurrection in an ultimately necessary way. Bakugo would be back and alive, but he wouldn't be the same person. The original Bakugo would still be dead, which should still be the case.

It's possible this is already the intent - a few shrewd fans recently found that Horikoshi has incorporated Denji and Pochita as hard-to-find Easter eggs at various points in the manga. It's therefore obvious that Horikoshi is a fan of Chainsaw Man, and hopefully the creator will follow through on the similarity of Bakugo's resurrection, ensuring that My Hero Academia's death isn't forgotten as the story continues.
