Warning! Spoilers ahead for My Bad Vol. 2 #1!The humorous and satirical superhero world of My Bad has returned for another round from Ahoy Comics. From pizza boy assassins to the pitfalls of dating as a superhero, My Bad Vol. 2 #1 keeps the laughter coming with outlandish situations and over-the-top characters.

Ahoy first introduced readers to the Important New Superhero Universe with the release the first volume of My Bad in 2021. The comic is a spoof on the superhero genre and features short, comical tales of its inhabitants. Some of the main characters featured are the villainous Emperor King, the affable traffic-hero, Rush Hour, and intense Batman parody, the Chandelier, a hero who takes Bruce Wayne's out-of-touch criticisms to an exaggerated extreme. My Bad does feature a number of superhero ongoings, but it finds a lot of humor in the daily minutae of masked heroes' lives most comic book stories would never bother to show.

So what does the return to the Important New Superhero Universe have in store for readers? The first issue of My Bad Vol. 2 #1 by Mark Russell, Bryce Ingman, Peter Krause, Kelly Fitzpatrick, Rob Steen, Joe Orsak, and Paul Little quite literally starts with a bang. Someone is killing superheroes, or at least, they’re killing people with names similar to superheroes in a case of horrifically mistaken identity. As the killer continues his spree, the retired crusader Chandelier is muddling about in his life as a private citizen. Meanwhile, one of the world’s top supervillains, Emperor King, is finding himself equally stuck since taking a break from his career. However, a new online dating app exclusively for superheroes draws the semi-retired villain out to meet up with crusader known as Good Karen, a woman attempting to redeem the name 'Karen' with positive actions.

Ahoy Comics My Bad Preview Page

My Bad’s humor is the biggest strength of Ahoy Comics' latest release. Every page has some piece of dialouge or visual gag that is sure to have readers howling in laughter. Though the stories still focus on the heroes established in the series' previous volume, the creative team does a fantastic job expanding their universe with new heroes and new threats. But what really works about My Bad is how well it understands superhero fiction, and how it uses that knowledge to completely take the piss out of the genre.

Superhero parodies are a popular sub-genre of comic book fiction. After all, superheroes and their adventures are intrinsically linked with the comic book medium. And while parodies and riffs are easy to make, it's a lot harder to create a world that's both funny, and engaging on its own. My Bad's creative team are all highly aware of what makes superhero stories work, and that has helped them create one of the best modern spoofs on superhero fiction. My Bad is the sort of comic that both superhero lovers and haters can both get a kick out of. Readers owe it to themselves to pick up a copy of Ahoy Comics' My Bad Vol. 2 #1 today.
