Big changes are coming soon in Season 2 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. Purchase of Modern Warfare 2 entitles players to access the campaign's single player and co-op modes, along with traditional Call of Duty multiplayer modes like Team Deathmatch and Domination. Warzone 2, the free-to-play iteration on 2020's Warzone, features battle royale style gameplay and a new game mode called DMZ, in which players must infiltrate, gather loot from, and extract from a hostile zone.Although a blockbuster that's garnered millions of players, Warzone 2 has come under fire for failing to improve on its fun but imperfect predecessor, instead introducing out-of-place looting systems and making unwelcome changes to the Gulag respawn feature. Players have also criticized Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s problems with confusing menus and poor story pacing, as well as its lack of a ranked multiplayer mode. However, upcoming changes and new content have players hoping for the best in MW2 and Warzone 2's second season.Related: Warzone 2's Unlimited UAV Perk Is Basically A Cheat Code

According to the official Call of Duty Twitter account, Season 2 of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 will launch on February 15, 2023. This comes after a delay of the original release date, which was set for February 1. Activision remains tight-lipped about specifics of the update, but a number of much-requested and long-awaited revisions to the game have already been confirmed.

The tweet announcing the delayed release date for Season 2 of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 states that the update has taken player feedback into account. Warzone’s battle royale mode will see some major gameplay changes, and ranked play will be returning to MW2 in Season 2. In addition, the update will bring new game modes, maps, and weapons to MW2. The Resurgence mode, in which downed players can respawn as long as at least one of their squad members is still alive, will also make a comeback. Warzone's Gulag mechanic, where defeated players can fight for a chance at respawning, will support 1v1 matches instead of just 2v2.

Warzone is also getting a new, smaller map, and changes to its looting and loadout systems. These are some of the most popular requests stemming from Season 1, but how they'll be fixed remains unknown. Unless more information is revealed, players will have to wait until the update drops on February 15 to see just how extensive the changes to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 are.
