Screen Rant: Jodie, I love this movie, I love The Countess.

Jodie Turner-Smith: Yes, the Countess, the C--tress, whichever you like to call her.

She's a new addition to the Murder Mystery franchise. Can you talk to me a little bit about her role in the film?

Jodie Turner-Smith: The Countess is a deeply misunderstood individual, because many for some reason would describe her as a villain, and she's not a villain. She speaks about the world as she sees it, and people as she sees them. If something displeases her, she says so. And she loves money.

I love the comedic yet antagonistic tone of the Countess. Can you talk to me about finding that balance, especially working with comedic geniuses like Adam and Jennifer?

Jodie Turner-Smith: I don't know how I did it actually, no. Working with Adam and Jen obviously is a stunning experience because what the two of them have them going on, it's just so incredible and magnetic and hilarious, and it's kind of hard to keep it together. But in a piece like this, it really is all about the ensemble. It really is about figuring out where you fit in and kind of playing that note.

I always work with my acting coach, Leigh Kilton-Smith, and we worked a lot on this. And for me, as I said, in my description of the Countess, she's just living her deepest truth. I always tried to find the truth, everything that she's saying is always whatever her truth is in that moment.

That's brilliant. What did you find the most surprising about playing the Countess, and what did you want to bring to the role that wasn't necessarily on the page?

Jodie Turner-Smith: She's a lot simpler than you would think. She doesn't have some diabolical plan. It's actually quite straightforward with her, which was a very interesting note to play.

You guys shot in Paris, which is one of my favorite cities in the world. Can you talk to me about what the energy of the city brought to the film?

Jodie Turner-Smith: Paris is just so romantic. I'm sure there are people that hate Paris, but they're probably dead inside. There's just something that's inspiring and romantic and gorgeous and feels "oooh" about the city. It feels like all the movies you've ever seen about Paris. It looks like you're in a movie just walking around.

I'm a huge Star Wars fan, and I know you're going to be in The Acolyte, and I know it takes place at the end of The High Republic. What can you tell us about The Acolyte and the character you play?

Jodie Turner-Smith: I can tell you that what Leslye Headland has done inside of this IP is unlike anything that we've seen before from Star Wars. And I got to play a really amazing, powerful character who I'm really proud of, and under the guidance of one of my favorite directors Kogonada in these two episodes. You are going to see something really amazing.

Amandla Stenberg is such an incredible performer, and I got to work with JJ and Carrie-Anne Moss, and it's just really amazing. It wasn't until we got to the end of production that I realized that Dean [Charles Champman] was the Lannister who jumps out of the window. [Laughs]
