Rob Zombie releases a new image from The Munsters, giving the best look yet at Herman Munster. The Munsters was a family-friendly sitcom in the '60s that was a spoof of Universal's classic monster movies. The series starred Fred Gwynne as Herman, Yvonne De Carlo as Lily, and Al Lewis as Grandpa. While many have failed to successfully revamp the franchise, Zombie is taking a stab at it with his reboot starring Jeff Daniel Phillips (Herman), Sheri Moon Zombie (Lily), and Daniel Roebuck (Grandpa).

The Munsters' story is being kept under wraps at this point. However, the director has shared multiple updates on social media ever since The Munsters was announced, including photos of the construction of 1313 Mockingbird Lane, the film's special effects, and eventually the three core cast members in costume. Fans have gotten several looks at Herman specifically, with images and videos of Herman's everyday attire, a pair of pajamas, a Hawaiian shirt with skulls and crossbones, as well as his iconic Hot-Rod Herman outfit.

Many images and videos of Herman have been in black and white or covered with a vintage filter effect, but the newest reveal gives an HD look at Phillips' character. Zombie shared a set of images with instructions on how to craft a Herman Munster cosplay. After the photos with step-by-step instructions, Zombie included a picture of Herman in full color. The Munsters won't be released until this fall, so there has yet to be a trailer. The Munsters is currently still in production; however, Zombie has been keeping fans updated as actors finish their scenes on the reboot, as was most recently the case with Jorge Garcia as Floop. First looks at Herman, Lily, and Grandpa were mostly well-received since Zombie is pulling a lot of inspiration from the original series. While there have been several looks at these three main characters, there haven't been any sneak peeks at Marilyn and Eddie, which means they may not be a part of the reboot.

Eddie and Marilyn could be introduced in a sequel if The Munsters is a success, but there is no way the reboot can thrive if fans don't connect with Phillips' version of Herman Munster. Gwynne's character was the heart of the original show, and the actor went on to have a long career in Hollywood until his death in 1993. Phillips has some big shoes to fill, given the popularity of the original Herman Munster. However, with Zombie's passion for the original Munsters series, he likely put special care into helping Phillips get into character.
